If you sent me seeds for my daughter's project...

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

I recently posted asking for any and all viable seed for a project my daughter started. She calls it "Ellie's Seeds of Hope" and we had our first seed/plant sale last month. It has been suggested that I post here and let you all know just how well she did...

Well, we raised over $1400 in one day, all of which will goes to the National MS Society. We got to meet Mysticwill in the bargain, as she and her family drove up to meet us and support the sale (and pick up plants for Critterologist... thanks, ladies!). And, we did it all in our DG tee shirts! She made the local papers and was on the news (with mysticwill...). The Trenton Thunder Baseball Team Mascot, Boomer, made an appearance and signed a baseball that was sold in a silent auction. Her teachers painted a beautiful metal bucket for donations and many local business donated their wares to her efforts.

She has now planned a fall bulb sale, a winter seed sale and another plant sale for next May. (see www.elliesseedsofhope.com for more information if you are interested...)

She is nothing if not ambitious... I cannot say enough about her unfailing spirit and grace. She's my angel! And, thanks to all of you, she has learned that even a little girl can make a difference... one seed at a time...

Barb that is wonderful. Remind me in the fall and I will be glad to donate a bunch of seeds that I am able to collect. I generally have tons of Clitoria vine, Blue Chaste Tree, tall orange Cosmos and different Butterfly weeds seeds, providing we don't get a bad Tropical Storm or Hurricane.

Just wonderful.... let me know in the fall and I'm sure I'll have more seed. You are showing the world "one person can make a difference!"

Thank you both! She is an amazing little girl and her brother is just as wonderful. When he started at his school, he met a teacher who has MS. He started getting her lunch tray for her everyday... just because he knows about such things. They both worked so hard for the sale and are very, very pleased with the results.

Today, they went off to school with order forms for the bulb sale... Gott love that kind of commitment!

OMG - I have tears in my eyes! That is so wonderful!

Congrats on the fundraiser, and having such fabulous children, AND on being a great MOM!

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

We'd love some bulbs, Robin! They sell really well here. One local nursery gave us bags of 25 bulbs each that retail for $17 a bag. He gave us a CASE for the sale!

And, Sequee, its easy being a mom to these two kids!

Look for Ellie in an upcoming issue of Charley's Greenhouse catalog. They are going to feature her efforts to highlight what others can do with their greenthumbs...

Barb, I'm so sorry I missed the original thread and would like to contribute with the next sale. I can send you some pretty Chilean Native flower seeds as well as some hot pepper seeds. I will check if your address is in the exchange.

Congratulations for your wonderful (and pretty) children!

A big hug,

Ursula

Your story is touching and inspirational and i'd like to contribute whatever i could. I don't have many plants but i'm a graphic designer by trade and if you'd ever like any website work or promo material done gratis i'd be happy if i have the time. I wish you continued success.

Yes, Ursula, I'm in the exchange. And, thanks in advance.

Naien, my mind reels at your generous offer! We are currently looking for someone to make tee shirts for use at events and to sell, as well as special plant markers, preprinted with "Ellie's Seeds of Hope" and room for the plant name (Charley's Greenhouse Supply - Block markers, which are coming to me soon). I handmake the buttons we sell using DickBlick Quick Buttons, though preprinted ones are on the list of wishes. The website is up and running, thanks to webwizard for dopes like me... Any thoughts on what else we could do?

BTW, Ellie reads this link and the other posts with me each day and has been jumping up and down over your generosity. And, of course, her favorite thing to wear is her DG shirt!

Barb,

I hope I'm not offending you by doing a copy & paste of the information on your Member Page. I just thought it would give people who read this thread a better understand.

Hugs

Posted today in recipes, canning and general forums...

...from the BassetDaughter. Her mind continues to amaze me! Now, she wants to add a cookbook to the things we sell for "Ellie's Seeds of Hope" (www.elliesseedsofhope.com), her project to raise money for the National MS Society. So, she is asking if anyone would like to contribute a recipe to her cookbook... And, she asks that they in some way encompass something from teh garden... a veggie, a fruit, seeds, an herb, etc. One hundred percent of all monies raised will go to the National MS Society.

Please note: we will NOT take a single recipe from Dave's Garden for this project. All recipes must be emailed to us at pipenthimble@att.net (or DG mail to me) with a note that you understand that the recipes will be used to raise money for 'Ellie's Seeds of Hope' and give us your permission to print your recipe for that sole purpose. All recipes submitted will be attributed to the contributor in the final copy. And, please enclose your address as we will send each contributor a copy of the cookbook as a thank you for your support.

Thank you in advance if you are considering contributing to this project. We hope to have this ready within the next month. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
