Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Scarlet Blood Flower and Silky Gold milkweed for SASBE .49 for 3 people to start with. Have lots of pods and will add more people as they ripen. Ready to plant now. No cold treatment required on this species. I am in the addy exchange. Monarch catepillar food and great for Aphid control in the greenhouse in winter if grown in a pot.

ME! ME!

I'll send out my postage right away, Donna. Are there any seeds you are looking for?

Barb

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

thanks for the offer Barb but just had major back surgery for I won't be doing much of anything for the next 6 months. Have lots I traded for I didn't get planted now and hoping they will still be good for next spring.

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

No problem! Just hate to send "empty" SASBE! Will send right off and thanks!

bump..... no takers???

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi Donna,

I would dearly love to receive some Silky Gold milkweed seed. I have plenty of the other kind growing in my yard but the butterflies wiped out all the Silky Gold variety.
I read your answer to Barb so know you don't want anymore seed but like she said it is a shame to send an empty SASBE. Understand why you don't want to see your stack of "to plant" increasing on you now though. Maybe we can trade something later on.

Hope you recover fast and are in great shape to go to work in your garden in the spring. I am harvesting things like blue flax and Salvia lyrata and others and will be glad to send you some fresh seed when you are ready for it.

Hope to have some othervarieties this fall, have Physocarpa and Fruticosa blooming now. They only bloomed right before winter and didn't make any seed pods last year.

Melvindale, MI(Zone 5a)

Donna, would you happen to have a pic of this milkweed. I searched plant files and couldn't find it.

Cindy

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Barb & Barb got envies today and going back out to you tomorrow.

Barb did Ellie recieve her surprise package???

Scotland, United Kingdom(Zone 9b)

Hi Donna,

I would love to get some seeds of your Silky Gold Milkweed if you have any left and would consider sending them to me. I could send some US currency in an envelope (my stamps wouldn't work over there LOL).

I hope your spine is coming along well and that you'll be back to gardening as soon as possible...although, there is the bright side, which is being able to sit in the garden and enjoy the flowers and wildlife and just listen to nature from all your previous work!

If you have some seed left and will send to me, I'll get the money and envelope out to you the same day I hear back or firt thing the following morning. It would be there within a week. Take care, I hope your pain level is low and that you are still getting some enjoyment in your garden.

Shelley

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Sassy just e-mail me your addy, don't worry about the money.

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

Not yet, Donna. Did you like your surprise?

Barb

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

I sure did. Wondering if I can throw them out in the wildflower garden. Do they like to grow in full sun??

Ellie should have recieved it by now. Wonder if it is coming back for not enough postage?? Hope not

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

NO! NO! Not seeds, dried flowerbuds... smell good stuff for you while you are recuperating!!!!

Barb

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Wow, big selection of milkweed. I have the commons but don't get any seeds unless I isolate a few pots where the monarch cats can't get to them. They are currently devouring every plant I have, blooms & all. I keep new seedlings coming up all the time so they are at different stages.

Jan I have mine in pots so I can put them in the GH over winter for Aphid control. I had Monarchs hatching all winter. They only hatched on warm days. Funny how they know when it is safe.

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi DonnaB,

Received the seed today. Thanks, Barb

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

your welcome :-)

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

Dee your seeds are going out in the morning.

Ocean Springs, MS(Zone 9a)

Thanks Donna.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Hi Donna,
I have some in pots and some in the ground. I pretty much have Monarchs year round here so it can be a chore keeping them supplies. Sometimes you just have to let mother nature take its course. I do have a large bird flight that's no longer used for birds that is 3ft x 3ft x 8 ft long on legs. I am thinking of keeping a supply of potted ones in there as the wire is too small for the monarchs to get through to lay their eggs.
Jan...

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

good idea Jan. Keep some going untill they get big enough to be munched on.

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Yep,
I'll be potting up some seedlings and taking cuttings this weekend.
Jan...

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Well, potted up 28 seedlings and started to move them into the bird flight but had 3 old parakeet breeding boxes to remove first. Well,
the first one was fine but when I went to removed the second one, I put my fingers in grab and and got a piercing pain in my middle finger.
Well didn't know for sure if it was insect or snake that might have been hiding in there when all of a sudden this little hornet comes climbing out thinking he was going to take on the intruder again. Well, let's just say I introduced him and his friends to my good buddy Mr. RAID .
Ouch it still stings! Hope the stingers not still in but I can't feel anything.
Jan...

Lomita, CA(Zone 10a)

Got my seeds, Donna! We will plant some out immediateley and others in pots the greenhouse. Thanks so much for this. Ellie loves the butterfly garden and is always out there checking on her winged friends.

Jan, hope your finger is better!

Barb

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

I just found this thread and fear that all your seeds are gone. If you happen to have anymore, please let me know.

Carmen

Pinellas Park, FL(Zone 9b)

Jan..

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)
