This falls under 'Why didn't I think of this before?'....

So, why didn't I? I was harvesting basil yet again (nothing like fresh pesto). I pinch back my herbs all the time but they are too short to put in a bottle or jar of water to keep them fresh. I always take them in the morning but use them at dinner so I want to keep them perky until then.

So, today, I filled a small paper cup with water and stuffed a paper towel into it. Works just like a flower frog... the ends of the basil are in cold water and happy, without falling into the water...

Good idea! And if you don't get around to using it for a few days, you may well end up with rooted cuttings!

It NEVER sits that long around here...
