A testiment to our late season

St. John's, NL(Zone 5b)

As prrof of how late spring is in Newfoundland, here's a selection of tulips that are open in my garden today!....what's the date? June 12! And to think I have single late tulips that are still green buds...I think I will actually make it to July with tulip blooms! This is a variegated one I picked up in Calgary last fall. Its called Happy Generation.

Springtime in Newfoundland. Yippee! Looks wonderful, Todd. Better late than never I always say. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful Todd, you get to enjoy them all summer long by the looks of it.

Love maximowiczii, Todd. I don't have much luck with the species, but this one is worth another try.

I love all your flowers, Todd, but the Marilyn is just gorgeous. I love anything unusual and bizarre, so the Spring Green really appeals to me too - I've never seen a green tulip before! Very cool.
Christine.

Christine, if you like bizarre, feast your eyes on my Arisaema sikkokianum...it bloomed for the first time this year after being sown from seed in 2000.

That is so totally amazing! It looks like a light bulb in an art deco fixture.

OK, thats just weird. And now, I want one! :D

looks like a cross between a calla and a 'jack in the pulpit'

Cool plant! but 5 years is too long for this instant gratification girl....

To make the best of it, I forgot I had it! I was pulling weeds when suddenly, there it was! If I had planted it in a more open space, it might not have taken 5 years. I expect you could get it to bloom with proper care in 3 years. There is a Arisaema consanquineum next to it planted at the same time but it still hasn't bloomed. I'll have to move both in late summer to a place of more distinction.

Oh, for sure. That plant is definitley a conversation piece and I'd be bettin' you'll not see another one in your area any time soon.
