The first time ever, I think, in 28 years that my DH has spoken positively about flowers. He said, "you know, I never care much about your flowers, but this one is cool. It looks like 'a dandilion on steroids!' " I thought that was so funny, I'm sharing, the comment and the flower!

kooger--very insightful comment from your DH. I think he would get along well with my DH who has the same interest in gardening or even less...
Also didn't know that the Start of Persia got that huge...I will have to try some. The catalogs are coming in now, so I'll have to get them on order...

PF says 8-12" for bloom size. Wonder if they'd get even bigger with a little fertilizer. These were clearance bulbs I picked up in Meijers in Charlotte, MI on a truck run with DH. It was really late in the fall so I never expected a lot from them. After resting the first year, they're doing well now. And they're far too close together. Took me 10 minutes to untangle this one - took it to work and wow-ed everyone! :) I'm going to have to do some reading and find out when is the best time to move them. I'm guessing fall since they are spring-ish blooming.
