the silvery looking palm, does anybody know if it can grow in a 30 gal pot? I want to use it around the pool.

Yes. It can grow in just about any sized pot... though the bigger the better. Eventually it will want out, though.

They don't stay that small for long.
This plant was put in from a 3 gallon pot only nine years ago...

thanks everyone.
cearbhaill, that bismarckia is so ver beautiful!!!! I need something that will be happy in a pot for a long time so maybe that is not my best choice. Tell me, what are the beautiful plants to the left (palm? what kind?) and to the right (fig?)

Russell, KY(Zone 6b)

To the left would be Licuala grandis- an understory (shade only) palm.
To the right is a volunteer Jatropha podagrica.
