I noticed what looked like chewed, or stripped, circle shapes on 3 lower limb areas. They were very small when first noticed but now one is getting bigger in diameter. (Otherwise, the plant appears healthy with normal new growth.) Does anyone know what may be causing this, and what action, if any, needs to be taken?
Thanks so much.

White bird of paradise being chewed?
Sorry, I don't know. All I know is that me and my baby bunny who's eating my plants are both here...lol.
:) Donna
well you need to find that bug and bite them back.... there a little bitter let me warn you..
ely
So sorry about your plants, PerinnialGirl, but I bet that baby bunny is cute.
Ely, I bet, lol.
The "chew" area has very slowly enlarged, over months. I've never seen any pests on it and since it's taken months for the spot to get this big, I began to think it was something internal causing it. It's in a tall container on the patio. Far left in this photo.
Desert Dew your tropical area is gorgeous! Can I send you my baby bunny??? Please!!!
:) Donna
Thanks so much, Donna!
I would take you up on the bunny offer, but since we don't get any bunnies in the yard your little guy would get lonely here. ;)
(Just down the road from me, though, there's all kinds of crop fields, including commercial rose fields...bet he'd like it there, lol.)
I bet he or she would.....lol. I wonder how much it would cost to send a live bunny.

Has anyone grown a Bird of Paradise from seed?? I am attempting and so far ONE seeds has germinated and has a shoot--a yellow BoP!! Does anyone know how long till it is big enough to flower?? I do NOT expect it to flower this year--just want some clue as to what to expect as it develops. Will it transplant well or should I put it in a pot as soon as it has it's first true leaves?!! Bonnie
LOL, Donna...I don't know, but if it's a she, it'd be interesting to see how many arrive compared to how many were sent. :) I used to raise rabbits when I was in my teens and they sure are prolific, lol.
Bonnie, I'm not sure if this is the same type as yours, but I came across this thread with seedling info: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/350261/
I've only grown the desert birds from seeds. Hopefully, someone will come along with more info for you. Ooh, just thought of it...maybe the propagation forum will have more info, too.
