Just purchased some Sweet Million cherry tomatoes and looking for performance information. I reside in PA and my plants have a good 6 or more hours of sun per day.
Anyone grow 'Sweet Million' cherry tomatos?

You may get more information from folks in the tomatoes and/or vegetables forums.
Thank you Farmerdill...I did a quick look and didn't see anything like that.
I grew them years ago and they were prolific producers. The only thing that I didn't like about them was they cracked with just the tiniest bit of extra water. Cherries are prone to cracking anyway, but these were worse than usual.
Good taste, nice size, huge production...nice little tomato.
Melody,
My clusters of flowers only product one or two tomatoes each. Does something eat the flowers or early fruits?
Lots of people over on the Tomato forum have talked about them. Think it was cricket or was it cricket..
I grow them , and need to shake the vines for good friut set, - or-- I will get only a few tomatoes per cluster. -and yes they are better watered from the bottom, as water sprayed on them will crack ripe fruit, --Michael
Tomatoes all can benefit from a good shake...pollen is thick and it needs to be moved down the corolla. Some old farmer's wives would beat their tomato plants with a broom to promote good fruit set. It is not wind borne and very few insects will pollinate a tomato plant. It depends on movement of the plant itself , mostly by the wind moving the branches. Non pollinated flowers will simply drop off.
Okay...great information. I will try shaking the plant!!! I have large masses of flowers, but only one or two tomatoes so far. So glad to discover the problem. I couldn't figure out what could be eating them and leaving no evidence!!!
THANKS THANKS THANKS
Just got my first ripe tomato a few days ago, and as Melody said, it was cracked!!! Very disappointing!
Can anyone tell me why some tomatoes have green seeds? This is very unappealing to me, and I just don't eat them. What causes this?
Thanks
Green seeds are often a genetic predisposition. Some tomatoes are entirely green (color) when they are ripe, but they taste the same as the red ones.
I know they taste the same...but it makes me sick...reminds me of food with worms etc. I'm guessing all my tomatoes will have green seeds then?
THANKS FOR THE INFO!
Heh, you wouldn't like my garden then - my tomatoes are all different colors!
Sometimes leaving the tomatoes longer on the vine will help reduce the amount of green inside.
Great, I will give that a try. I love the yellow and orange tomatoes as long as the seeds are not GREEN!
I've grown both Sweet 100 and Sweet Million in EB's where they got a constant supply of moisture. I know the general feeling about cracking being caused by heavy rain or uneven watering just before they ripen causing the fruit to swell beyond what the skin can accomodate but my EB grown plants had horribly cracked fruit...probably 50% of the total fruit production. Last year I grew Jolly Elf grape tomatoes and this year I have Juliett and Husky Cherry in EB's and none of these had/have any cracking problem whatsoever.
Rich
Hi Rich...I tend to agree with you, these are cracking before the fully ripen. I won't bother with them next year. Let me know how you like the other cultivars at the end of the seaon. Maybe next year I will try one of those.
Thanks,
Bonnie
I'd be glad to secludedgardens. As I said the Jolly Elf were grown last year and had no cracking problems and so far this year the Juliett & Husky Cherry are good also. Schwenksville is near Reading I believe. Every time I go out in that area between Reading and Lancaster I pig out on Dieffenbach's and Original Good's chips cooked in lard and probably take another year off my life in the process (lol).
Rich
I know what you mean about the Good's!!! When I go to central PA I like to stock up on Middleworth chips. Sure wish I could get them around here. Oh well, gives us something to look for on our travels. LOL
