I think it's some kind of cobra lily, or what are those things called, oh yeah, voodoo lily. but no flower first, just the ferny leaf, and the second pic, is another pot, with a smaller one coming in it, and it has the same spotting on the stem but looks a little diff in the leaves, it's a bad picture, but in a day or so i'll post another picture of the leaves so maybe we can identify it.
I also have salvia coral nymph coming up in the same pot LOL
got something strange growing in 2 brug pots
Kathy,
I have weird things growing in my pots but I put them there. Only problem is I forgot what they were. lol lol
Judy
Hey, I'd be thrilled to find those in my pot! I just found out my versi orange was dead and replaced by an air potato and perilla. LOL
LOL, I often want to plant things in with my brugs, but I find myself wanting to do sedums, you know the low growing kind, but they don't require as much water as he brugs, so Ithought i'd kill the sedums, any of you ever done sedums in your brugs?
kathy
I have tomatoes coming up in mine, lol, cause I used some soil from the compost pile in the pots with the brugs.
Most of mine have sun coleus, petunias, thunbergia, asarina, etc. I sure never thought of tomatoes, sedums or voodoo lilies. :)
I've only got one Brug underplanted with pink Zinnia - but I've been eying those other Brug pots and thinking about companions for them. I see some expirimentation in my future.
Mary
Me too mary, all those wasted spaces, you know, LOL, but sedums? i'm just not sure they would do well, since they don't need very much water and I have to water my brugs every day.
I have n't got a thing in my brug pots except the volunteers here LOL
Weeds in mine...or seedlings that were tossed out "with the bathwater" come up by surprise!
I'm like Judy...darn...when am I ever going to accept that fact that I can remember ANYTHING!!! I have more unknown plants!!!!
Kathy, I also have strange things popping up in the pots. I use my compost in my soil mixutre so never sure what I may find. The most common is tomato seedlings. I have also tried some underplantings this year to see how they fair with the heavy feedings. So far so good.
I think what you have in the first pot is Jack in the Pulpit. This mystery will be fun to follow...LOL
I love volunteers. I am sad that I get so few now using Preen so much. But I love Preen more. LOL.
Try a pot of sedums, you never know until you try! LOL. Maybe use a light soil on the top 10 inches of the pot and a heavier soil in the bottom of the pot.
Carol, I have finally realized I have advanced PM ADD. I do not even try to remember anymore.
I use a lot of impatiens in my pots. They do great. I also have lots of coleus in them this year. I used to have border dahlias in them but they grew so big they looked too messy.
Chele, which asarina?? I just killed a huge pot of a dark purple one and now regret it. LOL. I do have seedlings popping up all over though in the pot directly below where it was. Which thunbergia? The dots are driving me mad. I can't contain them. They are going up everything. I am afraid they will smother everything in their path. Here they live and grow all 12 months. They get huge and will cover a house. I do notice my new Raspberry Smoothie hates to climb up but is actually trying to hang down. I may use one of those in a brug pot.
I LOVE the looks of under planting, but I tried it and I killed the under plants over watering and, IMO, the under plants did not help the brug, which did bite the dust. I didn't like the brug, and used it as a test, and I won't do it again, cause now I only have brugs in pots that I haven't rooted a back up brug, but when I do, in the ground they all go. I have little plants that I put in the bottom of brugs, without planting them...
