Purple Louisiana Irises

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

This year I seem to have a bumper crop of the short purple LA irises. Anyone want to trade for other plants?

I will check your lists as soon as I get home from work!

Will take pic of my bleeding heart later, if you still want one. Its a bit overgrown/golden due to soil drama, but it might just be what you are looking for.

Here's a list I put together for the Summer/Spring secret trade of plants I'd like. I'm very easy to please.
This is what I'd love (and I'm not particular on names in most cases):

fancy siberian irises
Japanese irises
veronica
verbascum
phlox
aster
penstemon (I have Husker's red)
Negella
pulmonaria
epimedium
hardy geranium that don't flop (would adore Rozanne)
clematis (I have Henryii and a large purple)
miniature gardenia (cuttings?)
coreopsis

Coventry, RI(Zone 6a)

Hmmm, I'll have to see if I can divide some aster, and clematis....

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

Hey Pins. My brother has Rozanne hardy geranium growing in all of his beds around his house. . Funny, he also lives in Decatur! Want his address so you can make a night-time raid? LOL Acutally, I plan on being there on the 20th. I'll get you some babies. I got some babies from his garden for myself a few months ago and they grew great. Don't really need any irises though. Postage will work, or a different trade, or maybe we can meet up in Decatur.

Robin, you have dmail.

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh Pins...I do love Veronica. Especially if it is a taller type.

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Me, too. Wish I had some.

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

the veronica on your list above a short type?

Monroe, NC(Zone 7b)

Oh duuuuh. Sorry....those are things you like, not things you want! I'll bring you a few of those when we meet in Decat. Want a short veronica?

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Sure! I have no veronicas at all, so and and all will be welcomed.

Austell, GA(Zone 7a)

carmen, do you have a picture of your l.a. iris?

No, but I'll try to get one this evening when I get home.

Soquel, CA(Zone 9a)

most of my nigella bloomed but there may be a plant or two around here...otherwise have tons of seeds.
will go check on the purple penstemon to see if it can be divided.
also have gardenia but i've never tried cuttings so a bit dubious...

That sounds great Tatyana. I've never tried rooting gardenia cuttings before, but I have pretty good luck with hydrangeas.

Carmen,
I have a blue/purple penstemon plant. Can they be divided? It is huge and the cat has flattened down the center so I should do something with it anyways.
Or I have some penstemon seedling plants that I started this past late winter/early spring. They are mixed colors.
I have 'Pink Perfection' clematis. Could take cuttings.
I have asters too. Can divide them too. One is a deep purple, I think. The other one is more of a frilly type of leaf. Am not sure if it can be divided easily. Need to go loolk at the crown of the plant. Think it is a yellow or pink. Tho you seem to already have offers for asters.
Have carnations seedlings. Mixed colors, tall ones that I also started this year. I started the same seed last year and I have the plants all over blooming like crazy now. Very nice smell in the garden when working there.
Are you interested in any of these.?
Just let me know.
Carol

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

I would love to get some penstemons and/or asters. Any color would do. I'm not sure about dividing the penstemon. I'll look at mine after work to see what it does.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Fine, I will try to divide on Sunday and ship out on Monday then. Will send a couple pent. seedlings too.
I have just trimmed my other red pent. last year and had some stems that I just stripped the leaves of it and plucked into the ground and a pot. They just took off thru the winter and are now growing like crazy. They seem to be very easy to propagate which I like to do.
Later then,
Carol

Carmen,
I just shipped a nice box for you this morning. Should be there on Wed. or Thurs. Hope you enjoy.

They both sound great! Email me privately so we can work out the details.

Soquel, CA(Zone 9a)

sending you nigellas, purple penstemon and experimental gardenia cuttings.
i'm keeping them long in hopes they survive transport well, if they get wilty, just cut them back...they will bounce back no problem. (you may even be able to root the penstemon a couple times from this one)
thanks for the trade! : )
