Mystery Seed from Mexico = would love some help

N. Mississippi, MS(Zone 8a)

Ok, when walking on the beach down near Tulum Mexico a few weeks back I found a seed that had washed up on the beach. It was a dark brown color, was roundish and flat. Kinda thin for its size, Sort of like a york peppermint patty or oreo. Was about the size of a silver dollar. I dont have a picture but I picked it up on the last day before catching the flight home, it was in my shorts pocket and I forgot about it. I found it the other day - planted it and its germinating. It hasnt thrown a leaf yet, still swelling and I can see a large root heading down into the soil. I wonder if anyone on here might actually know what I have growing from that seed description? Thanks

I've picked up a few seeds that wash ashore, but have never planted one. I guess because I lose track of the seed. I found a website that may be able to help you. There photos of many different seeds together with their scientific name. If you remember what the seed looked like or can scrape dirt off it to see it, you might be able to find it here. The website also has links that might want to search through. One other thing to do, once the plant has several of its true leaves, take photos and post them, maybe some can ID the plant.

Betty,

Thank you so much - I knew I could count on the folks in the Tropicals forum! That is a great website, I wish I had known about it before my trip to Mexico, I would have spent more time picking up seeds. lol I was able to identify my seed. It is a type of sea heart - Entada gigas. Worlds largest Legume. I will need to be careful it doesnt take over my greenhouse. lol Thanks a lot for that link.
