Water Iris # 1

Mississauga, ON(Zone 6a)

These 2 pictures were taken in Kariya Park which is about a 15 minute walk from where I live. It is Mississauga's 'sister park' with Japan, and is a lovely oasis in the middle of the city.

Here is a close-up of the yellow iris. There are a few purple ones.

Gee, that's pretty, Joan. We here in Castlegar have a sister city in Japan too, by the name of Embetsu. But we don't have any lovely parks, like the one in your photos, to commemorate them. That's a great idea, and that is a lovely Japanese Park.

ceedub, It's just south of Square One, if that is of any help to you.

The short street leading out of Square One onto Burnhamthorpe is called Kariya Gate & the street south of Burnhamthorpe is called Kariya Drive. Kariya Gardens is on the west side of Kariya Drive. Clear as mud? ;=} Why do they do that?

A great help, thank you Joan - I've already emailed Msga. friends wih the link.

Oh, likely to "greatly honour" that city by naming two streets and a park after it ... lol. Come to think of it, I have seen those streets and wondered why myself.
