My two nectarines just wanted all of you veterans and super posters (you know who you are) to know they cast a pox on your compost pile!!
Me and Bud had a come-to-Jesus meeting this evening and decided the nectarines were seeing their last summer beside the driveway. They're coming down in september after harvest. Next summer is going to be sooooooo amazing. It'll be big, fragrant, labor intensive brugs all along the drive.
Why - you ask? OMG OMG OMG
Harlot is open on her second night with a kool-aid baby powder smell but is around the corner with one bloom now... (I have grass stains on my work levis)
Right outside the front door:
Golden Lady has 4 with their first skirts out and I'm fondling the sidewalk
2 versions of Nicotiana are stinking up the air with a fragrance that reminds me of my single 20's in Hawaii.
Peaches and Cream has 4 new ones open and I lost count of what's already setting in the new growth. Not strong but the citrus smell added to the confusion.
No wind, Ray Charles' last cd cranked up and in an unheard of event, I had the DW dancing on the sidewalk and the driveway with me.
The 5 year old nectarines want you all to have very bad dreams and may ants take up residence in a favorite plant and excavate it!!
ok you fruits, I told them so unlock the fridge and take the knife away from my throat

Hate Mail - (new brug fans pay heed)
We need pictures Blaine so we can join in your dance!! What is a garden but constant change?
I've gotta say you have one nice wife to dance in the driveway in front of all of the neighbors!!
I am in zone 5a and cannot even imagine growing nectarines let alone having them bear fruit. You better enjoy them this last summer.
Jeanette
Were you wearing your mu'umu'u....?
You and your wife really sound like neat neighbours to have!!!
Ray Charles...now, THAT is kewl!
It looks like Blaine is in zone 5a and you are in 7a Jeanette. Oh, I am so confused. LOL.
Love that last Ray Charles CD. I have about worn it out...especially the track with Gladys Knight and Ray singing "Heaven Help Us All." Quite fitting for your dance Blaine.
Kell confused? I am amazed!!! :)
Last night I was out at 10:30 - very late for geezes - doing the sniff and appreciate every blossom thing.
such a heady nitecap!
yu all be sew crasy...LOL
this was posted in jest... under the influence too. The nectarines are still upset because it was final this morning... they'll come down about mid-September.
The neighbor's eyes will be going counter-clockwise but oh well.
Pictures this evening... Oh man, I looked out the bedroom window this morning and Pat Austin had 3 huge fat gorgeous orange flowers open. Since she's in a container, I believe I'll roll her around front to hang with brugs...
Love it, I thought my neighbors were the only ones with nuts next-door. Enjoy
What a fun post Blaine, we must have a photo of your DW. We dance many summer nights away on our cement pond deck, with an all age crowd, from the youngest grands to the hubby's mom, 92, and holding. The deck has a tin roof and it's heaven when there is a summer shower, and a fragrant brug blooming. My hubby and I met in college at a party, and dance, where Ray Charles was playing - and, our two year Golden is named 'Blueray Charles', my hubby calls him Ray Ray...
Well... the DW is so self-concious and worried about what someone might think, I was even surprised I got her up. Extremely rare she'd even be outside in my world. But she was sitting on the stoop inhaling the nicotiana which reminds her of the Philippines. I was shuffling around by myself until I reached for her hand. I don't remember the last time we danced and it probably looked like a couple of first graders. :) I was enjoying it so it didn't matter to me. The block may really be ticked off soon. I was called and told a city truck came by, asked the DW to move hers out of the way and took pics. Could be 'Home of the Month' again. Guess I better get empty pots and potting soil off the side of the driveway.
ROFL Blaine . Enjoyed everyminute of it but feel kind of sad for the poor Nectrines. A true Garden is always changing
Hey Mel, I know some secrets ..... so be nice. LOL.
And what is the resaon for that Donna? Because to be a true gardener, you always want more, more, more and new, new, new.
LOL Blaine! Cute story! I think its wonderful that yall danced and enjoyed the sweet smelling moment!
We also have a nectarine tree here that does wonderful. Are they not suposed to grow in our zone? (They dont know it if not)
Anyone wants to send a crew over to get those nectarines, be my guest.
(don't let me catch you sneaking the powder blue iris out with them though!!!)
Here this season is just getting started and I'm already thinking... Oh Boy! Next summer is going to be blast in the driveway. Music cranked up, frost on the long necks, brugs smelling the whole place up and we'll be doing the blacktop boogy!
Kell, I tried to correct my zone to 5a but it didn't take. Jeanette
Save the nectarines!!!!!
they can live in harmony together!!!!!!
Powder blue iris, wow. I love iris, but then, of course, I love all flowers. LOL
