I finally broke down and bought 3 nice pots today for my epi's and cc's, snitching the money from my grocery money. Good thing I have lots of staples in my pantry!
The pot on the left is metal and I'll need to drill drainage holes. The other two are heavy ceramic. I wish the glaze on the one in the back showed up better. Last summer I bought 3 really nice wrought-iron hanging baskets. Year by year, I'll buy a few and eventually get them all in something besides cheap plastic and/or nursery pots.
New Pots!
Pretty new shoes Darius!
Darius,
Who needs food anyway?? :) Just think of these sprees as a diet plan that's actually fun. All of those pots are gorgeous. I especially like the metal square-shaped pot on the left. Your plants will look great!
PlantMom
They had the metal pot in two larger sizes... I lust after them!
Great looking pots!!!

I love nice pots. I've spent a fortune on nice pots. Those are lovely, Darius.
Darius.(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
These are beautiful. but two are empty?
Kaleem
Empty just for now, Kaleem... until I get some more mix to plant my epies in them. : )
Pretty! I especially love the square one too! I'd never guess from the photo that it's metal though. I may need to go on a diet too ;-).....

Oh, I really love the round one on the right! It is beautiful!
Happy Birthday, Mary!
This is probably a stupid question but....don't the metal pots get hot in the sun? Seems like it would be hard on the roots.
Thank you darius! I just love birthdays!
Where did you find that beautiful little round pot?
NoH2O, I have no sun, LOL. I live in a very shady glen on a creek. I think the epi leaves would shade it enough anyway.
Mary, a local friend has a shop selling porch & garden stuff (no plants). The small pot was $15 and it's very hefty. The metal one is 12" x 12", $20... and the big one is roughly 15" in diameter. Again, quite heavy and was $32. I believe her ceramic pots are Asian. She has some large glazed pots that are almost large enough for a small bathtub!
Today I went to Home Depot and picked up a bunch of 4" round, terra-cotta colored plastic pots. Unfortunately, I didn't get enough!
I am putting each color and each unknown of all the orchid cactus I have as rooted cuttings. They look like little soldiers all in a row.
Lovely pots darius!! Specially like the round one!
Lovely pots! Having some "pot envy" here myself. Ha
Speaking of which.....I have most of my ...er ...(all 3, ha ha) of my big epis in hanging baskets/pots at this time. Now I notice a lot of you have yours in huge pots that sit on the ground or on tables, etc. Do they eventually get too big to hang, or what? I also see some in those moss lined wire baskets (what are your thoughts on those?). Does it depend on the type of epi? Should I just start out putting them in big stable pots? I have a bunch of small ones coming up, but I am so confused as to what to put them in as they grow?
Thanks for info on this.
Marcy
Marcy, my big epies are in hanging heavy wrought iron baskets... well, except one. My cuttings of epies and holiday cactus are all in small pots, and my big Christmas Cactus is now in the new pot in the center up in the first photo. I won't put my epi cutting into larger pots until they grow enough to be root bound.
(I didn't drill holes in the 2 metal pots [the one on the left in the photo]. I have Black Magic EE's in them, bog-like conditions and they seem to thrive.)
Darius,
I had quite a thread going in the Succulent Forum about my Ric-Rac Cactus. Daves moved it to the Orchid Cactus forum. I think it is still there, as it came up on my screen when i signed up just now. Anyway, there you can see pictures of my R-R Cactus in a full hanging basket.
If you are interested in this kind of stuff, I have MANY rooted cuttings that need a home. I really hate to bother posting this on ther plant exchange forum. Seems as soon as you do, EVERYONE wants some! All the mailing and collecting postages is just too involved. However, I do have a bunch. Are you interested in a couple????...just for postage. Let me know.
Gita
Gita, wonderful offer and I thank you. However, I expect to be moving by Fall and really will have hard enough time with the plants I already have. Maybe next year?
