Does any one know where I can buy/ trade Water Chestnut's for planting?

Michaelp ... I know that you can purchase water chestnut at Springdale Water Gardens ... they are online at www.springdalewatergardens.com and are a GREAT source for all things for your watergarden.

Thats an interesting idea.... what zones can they grow in? Do they have to be "greenhoused" in the winter???

I have them in my pond ... I left them in the bog area (only about 10" deep) all winter. They are starting to come back out again so I think they are ok. If my memory serves me right they are considered a hardy perrenial (at least to zone 6). The Springdale site I listed in last post will give you a lot of info on aquatic plants ... for the Water Chestnut go to http://64.224.96.217/ShopSite/pbog.html and scroll down to it.

Ruth ... know what you mean ... (un)fortunately I live within driving distance (just over 1 hour) from the place ... I have yet to go there and not spend money. I guess that's a good sign though ... they have stuff that I want ! Glad to be of help and that you found something too ... it really is a great place (and NO ... I don't work for them) ! I am thinking of starting (with another guy) a pond install/maintenance business and hope to be working closely with them.

Take Care.
