Hummingbird plant, Uruguayan firecracker plant (Dicliptera suberecta) after being planted in the ground has much larger and more numerous blooms.

I love this plant, Hazel! Is it easy to find it in nurseries in Texas? I would really like to find one of these. I hope you are not overdoing it in this heat and humidity.

Ann, I bought mine last year at my favorite nursery. I had never seen it before. I will see if they have some this year.I f they do, I'll let you know and send you one. I can start some small cuttings for you later on. Mine are still smallish, but are growing very fast. It is a great plant so far. It supposedly does not grow very tall nor wide. Once established, it does not require much water at all. The foliage is a grayish-green and very soft to the touch. It just started blooming this week. I was pleasantly surprised because I had read that it didn't bloom until much later in the year. I have the Mexican honeysuckle (a Dicliptera also) that has orange blooms, but the leaves are greener and it grows much larger. I think this plant is just as care free as the mexican honeysuckle. I have been swaeting a lpt the last few days as I try to catch up on the yard work I hadn't been able to do earlier. :o) Good to hear from you again.
