Pavonia Hastata

East Texas, United States(Zone 8a)

I love this plant. It is related to hibiscus and it looks like a miniature hibiscus. I rustled a cutting from a bush by a nearby subdivision and it took for me. After that I have never been able to propagate. I think there is a debate as to whether or not it dies back in winter, it doesn't die back for me. The bush grows in a sparse manner but I think it can be trimmed to achieve a tighter look.

here is a pix of bush. I planted it between my bananas, that way when nanas die, I have something going in that area. That area will look really bare if we have a "real" winter and it dies back.

I'm posting a pix of individual leaf because these is one of the plants that shares it common name with several others that look totally different.

Sorry, I just realized the individual leaf is out of focus, but I think you can still get a detailed view of leaves.
