I picked this one up recently and it is labeled by Exotic Angel h. bella “Sulawesii” . It doesn't look like a bella to me. It has not bloomed yet.... Can anyone Help?
Need Another Hoya Id
Looking like H. brevialata. H. incurvula looks similar but has more elongated leaves to my best knowledge.
Milan
Boy - some folks will just put ANY name down, won't they! Either H. brevialata or H. incurvula...I get the two confused if I can't see them side by side.....
Carol
Hi Jaimee, I agree that the first photo is most likely Hoya brevialata. I doubt a huge company like EA would mass produce both incurvula and brevialata with them being so simular. Mine has bloomed several times and is Hoya brevialata.
Your second one is most likely Hoya australis, carnosa and australis are very different.
I guess the EA people think if they give multiple names to these plants they'll get one of them right! LOL~!
Agree that the latter one is most likely H. australis.
Yep EA is very creative with the names on their labels. Who cares as long one gets nice plants :)
Yup...looks like the H. australis ssp. tenuipes. Wonderful bloomer!
Carol
Awesome!
Thanks Everyone! What would i do with out you guys!
You would have less hoyas!
This group is filled with enablers!
Congratulations on your scores :)
That is the truth meltn!
Question, I got a cutting from a generous trader. She has it labeled Hoya pieta? Ever heard of that? I tried to do a seach but i didnt find one. It looks just like my hoya Rubra, i wonder if it is labeled wrong? I can post a photo tonight if that helps.
Thanks guys!
Jaimee
Jamiee,
Could it have been H. picta? Maybe the c just looks like an e. There is a H. picta, but, it is not a carnosa. BUT, there is a carnosa people label as H. picta. How is that for confusing? Stick around..It gets worse!
Hmmm.... i wonder if thats what it is a.... hoya carnosa picta. Gosh there are too many varieties of carnosa. Is that the same as the hoya carnosa rubra?
I have found that alot of people have hoyas they just dont know what ones they have. I got a peperomia that is actually a hoya carnosa. Who knows what variety it is...LOL
Is there a list some where of the different types of hoya carnosas?
Thanks!!
The only Dischidia guru I know is a really nice guy in the Carolinas. I beleive his web site is called Cloud Jungle Epiphytes. I remember your plant being ID ed as a Dischidia, but, not certain of the exact name. I bet Harry can tell you. He also sells some really nice plants at reasonable prices. It is worth a look see!
Hi guys,
Just got the scoop from the hoya peta trader, She bought it off ebay. It is a hoya carnosa var picta. She said this was the man she bought it from
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=1510&item=3980146863&rd=1
Is that the same as hoya rubra? Boy it does get confusing!!! LOL
Mel, the only dischidia i have is the dischidia ruscifolia "million hearts vine". It is a cute little plant. I recently had to repot it thou, i dont think it liked that EA soil! Crappy stuff! Thanks!!
Jaimee
Jaimee, I'm pretty sure it's Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Princess', which has been sold as Hoya carnosa 'Rubra' and 'Picta' (I think Exotic Angel may be where the picta came from) Come to think about it.... when I first started with Hoyas I found an all green carnosa labeled as rubra and thought I had something new..... later on I saw two different variegated forms of carnosa labeled by EA as rubra!
The moral of that story NEVER trust EA labeling! LOL!
I gave up even trying to keep the carnosa cultivars straight other than this.
Hoya carnosa (all green)
Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Queen' (variegation on the outer edge of leaf)
Hoya carnosa 'Krimson Princess' (variegation on the insided of leaf)
PS I think Mel got this thread confused with another trying to ID a dischidia
Geesh.... These hoyas are confusing enough...Not to mention all the different names they give them. I'm starting to not like exotic Angel. Too bad its the only place around here that has hoyas. Oh well ...who cares they are all very pretty. I think my favorite so far is the hoya fungii that you gave me Lesli, I sure love the leaf!! Thank YOU thank YOU!
PS: Its ok Mel, I knew what you were talking about!
WHOOPS, sorry about that! Looks like I did get confused.
