Michael, the bloom is a bit blurry, so it's hard to tell much about the flower. There are 100's of varieties of cannas, and many are red. But I'm going to guess that it is probably President, which gets about 2 to 4 ft tall. Does that sound right?

If cannas are new to you, check out www.karcheskycanna.com and see all the wonderful varieties out there. One of my favorites is Journey's End, a cream with peach and pink markings. Cannas come in a variety of heights from 2 ft to 16 ft and in colors from red, orange, yellow, pink, peach, and even some that white, which are rare and hard to find affordably.

Enjoy your canna. A canna is what got me involved in gardening about 7 years ago.

Thank you , am not sure who sent me this seed , as I left my list in the greenhouse, and now I cant read it.- but I am glad I let it grow and didn't pull it, --it came up in some trade seed pots I had abandoned, when they didn't grow, --I transplanted them into bigger pots just to see what kind of weed it was, -- Thanks again , --Michael

Yep, it sure looks like my President! But I can hardly believe you grew it from seed! Hot dog!!!

I have never been able to get one to grow from seed. You either have the magic touch, or I am doing something terribly wrong.

They took months to germanate, and I just didn't throw the pots out , after I gave up on the ones that didnt grow,as I was busy, I had them in a tray that fills with water every day and than takes a few hours to drain out again.Along with some other wet loveing plants.

Good for you. I had mine on a tray for months and finally tossed them onto the compost heap! (No luck there, either!)
