I'll take an inventory and see if I can jump back in.
I'm still in, and compiling my wish list!
Let me start by saying I love surprises. If you have/think of a plant that is just plain WOW for my area, send it. I have a big yard, wet, dry, shade, sun, woodland, swamp, dry open field, you name it. Particularly, I am trying to add color to my wet/full sun areas, a moist/shade area under pine trees, part/full shade normal drainage, and full-sun/part-shadeshrubs for privacy. I'm still new to the site, and don't have much time online, so my wish list could get edited in stages up to the closing date. I also have a plant wish list in the trade section that is a little more specific if you want to peek there too.
So, ask yourself this: Will it live in 5a-b? If the answer is yes, then yes, I will most likely enjoy it. Here are some general, then more specific suggestions. Did I mention that if it grows, I love it?
ANYTHING BLACK - its the best way to get my fiancee interesed in our yard
- violet, foxglove, hollyhock, tulip, etc
Anything colorful, that "naturalizes" well (except yellow/orange daylillies, have oodles)
Anything with 4 season interest.
Night Heron - OK, long shot, but I just have to have one someday!
Peony - any
Hosta - Most any 'unusual' varieties, particularly Gunsmoke, Mouse Ears, and Percy
Anemone - any, including TALL
Coneflower - just not standard, or "rocky mountain"
Foxglove - wet loving varieties (my local greenhouse type says more arrid, my catlogs say wet, I'm confused)
Astilbe - tall or violet family of colors please
Giant Pussy Willow
Lamb's Ear - the big ones, have the regulars
Monarda
Witch Hazel
Big Betony
Blue Cardinal Flower
Coreopsis - any
Echinops - Any violet/white varieties preferred
Rudbeckia Triloba - have standard black eye sue, this one prefers moist soil
Siberian Iris - any
Tansy - any variety that will live here
Sweet Rocket
Liatris - white, pink (?)
Lavender - any that will live here (some won't I painfully found)
Funny mints - I have chocolate, spearmint, and apple
Please, no tender perrenials, I will just kill them in the fall. I never seem to get to the "digging" part. The exception would be if its INCREDIBLY beautiful, can live in a pot, and go dormant in my creepy basement.
I have no indoor light, so houseplants will die too (that is so painful for the winter gardener in RI). Altho I do enjoy some of the more fun varieties of African Violet (varigated, nutty colors, doubles, giants, and minis), and if you have a houseplant that likes LOW light, I wouldn't mind one in the mix.
NO skunk cabbage. I have hundreds already. tee hee
Whew! That went faster/longer than I thought. Guess I have lots of dreams for my space. I'm super excited about this, I can't wait!!! Thanks for reading my crazy long post (altho I'm sure its mostly the person w/ my name paying attention *wink wink*)

I am pretty easy to please. My only major requirements are that it must tolerate heat/humidity and pretty much full sun.
I would like:
Chocolate Cosmos (I've seen this posted on DG and now feel that I must have some)
Louisiana Iris (prefer any color except dark purple. I have that one)
Daylilies (Dark colors, especially purples, but any but yellow would be very welcome)
Evergreen Wisteria
Miniature Roses
Or anything that you can think of that will tolerate the heat/humidity/sun.
Please no veggies, houseplants, trees, anything over 6' tall, cannas or anything that can't live outside year round. I have no green house and no indoor light. Also, prefer something that doesn't require a lot of spraying. I'm not good at high maintenance.
I know that I will be thrilled with anything that I get. I agree with others that the fun is in getting a surprise.
Thanks,
Sheila
I wish for either full sun or shade to part shade periennials for my zone. I have a butterfly/hummingbird garden, 2 shade gardens,an herb garden, and a banana tree garden also. Thanks,
happy gardening!

I guess I should jump in here since I'll definitely be in on this one. lol First of all, you'd be astounded at what I don't have. What I really don't need are house plants (I kill them), trees, shrubs (except the miniature gardenia) and herbs.

Sorry, I'm in 6b. I just figured out how to add that info. I'm not that proficient on-line, but I can shop like a banshee! Oh, and my husband says he would like some bamboo (I'm not even going to ask why.) And yarrow - some good deep colors, all I have are pastels.
This message was edited Jun 11, 2005 10:53 PM
I quess I'm supposed to make a "wish" list. This is as hard as making a Christmas "Wish List". I have a lot of flowers, mostly old standby pernennials. I love them all equally in their own season of bloom. Anything new or different, even annuals, would be planted and loved. I also have quite a collection of houseplants, (I especially like blooming ones). I don't get to other gardens or nurseries often , so there is nothing I know of, that I want, but I love caladiums, delfiniums(sp) , foxglove, amaryliss, . I have run out of room to plant much so ,no shrubs or hostas, canna, or groundcovers. Other than that, I will be surprised and will love whatever I receive. Lou
I posted a "wish list" on the other thread, but decided to simplify -
I have alot of semi-shade, could use epimedium or toadlily, pulmonaria, brunnera, etc.
I like brugs, would love a cutting of your favorite one.
I like daylilies and irises too - red, yellow, white, blue, purple, peach.
I will love anything you want to share with me.
Eileen
I like unusual plants and fragrant is always good. Please see my garden web trade list for the plants I already have. http://members.gardenweb.com/members/exch/msbarbara
love tropicals and subtropicals, sedums, hostas, hydrangeas-would love climbing hydrangea, like unusual variegated plants. Surprise me!!!
Well, see the picture.
I spent the part of the day getting ready for my spring/summer secret trade person, and 2 other trades.
My trade is going east of Oregon, hehe, where else can it go? Shipping tomorrow and should be received by Wed. or Thurs.!
So I am done. Am excited and hope my secret person appreciates it all.
Am looking forward to my package tooooooo!!!!!
Carol
Very funny Carol! Now the rest of us feel the pressure - ACK
Looks good. Do you also put baggies around the wet paper towels?
-Kim
Yep, this is before I put all the plants into a ziplock bag with a rubber band around each bag.
I just took the picture before it got too dark and they were just all lined up nicely so...
Good, now everyone wil hop too maybe now.
I figured that I might as well get it done with since the summer is moving along, it was such a nice day work outside, I was tired of planting all my annuals, and I may be going out of town soon.
Carol
I don't need any trees, or deep shade plants. No Cannas, No croscosmia. No veggies, and please no bee balms or mints, with exception to any listed below. No houseplants.
I would love to have:
Reblooming Daylily except for the Yellows/Oranges
Red tall daylilies
Daylily "Chicago Royal Robe" "Frans Hal"
Alstroemeria Endless Love, or any that will grow in my zone
Varigated Iris
Siberian Iris
Japanese Iris
Louisiana Iris
Gaillardia "Red Plume"
Geranium "Ann Folkard" "Mavis Simpson"
Geum "Mrs. J. Bradshaw"
Nepata Longipes "Lamiaceae"
Salvia "Africana-lutea" (lamiaceae)
Salvia nemorosa "Pusztaflamme" AGM (lamiaceae)
Fushia "Madame Cornelissen" (onagraceae)
Rosa "Ballernia" A.G.M.
Rosa "Lady MacRobert"
Peonies (I have a white one with pink outline on the petals)
Almost any of the Floribunda Roses in the pink, apricot and peachy tones
Okay then...LOL I mostly want anything that grows well in partial to full sun and in my zone, that can stay put and will come back year after year.
