"The hail that came to Lubbock and ruined Susanne's life!!" lol

My plumie's are too tall to live under any kind of protection at my apt and suffered pretty bad in the baseball sized hail we had last week. ( http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/516568/ )

What should I do with this top part? It was completely snapped off. I can imagine that it won't regenerate any growth...so I don't know if I should cut it off and discard, try to root it, or just leave it alone?
Oh they all look so horrible, I'm so sad. Thanks for any advice yall have.

Don't be sad, Susanne, because I've seen horrible accidents all turn out just fine. When a tip gets damaged or broken off, new branches will sprout right below the cut -- sometimes lots of new branches, and each branch is a chance for more flowers. Five or six new branches means five or six inflo's next year. Just cut off the part that is hanging and leave it alone and watch the branches swells below the cut.

Well that's good to know, thank you Clare! I didn't think all hope was lost! :)

My pleasure:-) I should have posted this picture before, but I forgot I had it. This is a plumeria seedling which started to get black tip fungus in my humid portable greenhouse this past winter. I just rubbed the black part off with my finger and sprayed it with a fungicide. Now its growing a bunch of branches around the tip!

Oh wow, that seems to have done it some good! I always am hesitant to pinch off or help my plants get bushier...seems like mother nature always ends up doing it before I build up the nerve...she sure knows how to make plants look their best! yay for more inflo's!!

Susanne, I would never pinch the tip of a plumeria either -- not even seedlings! But thankfully, not all accidents are bad:-)

It looks like you're getting two branches there. Very nice!

Wow, that was quick!!

I thought it was quick too!! That's not even the same one I posted a picture of before (as all 3 of my plumerias lost at least one branch). The actual one I posted hasn't shown any signs yet of regrouping...but I have faith in it. :)
