Why did I spend 1 1/2 hours watering my plants this morning, and Now it's pouring down raining?
Arrggghhhhhhh :-/
I guess I should watch the news more often huh? LOL LOL
This is just one little section of them...sigh sigh
Why Ohhhhh Why??????
Careful Kim or the Dave Police will have to come down there and rescue those plants!
Oh Kim don't you know that if you DIDN'T water if would NOT be raining :-)
Riker is it like a offering to the gods or something?
ha ha ha ha ha!
I did the same thing Kim, I went out and watered for about an hour and then it went to thundering and we had a little storm. It soaked right up though, we are way below our average rainfall.
Sandra
Well Ive been watering like a fool for 4 days and the storm went right around us..grrrrr...maybe that trick doesnt work that way in Michigan....Judy
Same here
It rained within 3 miles of here
but NOTHING here
Not to change the subject, but what is the tall plant in the middle of the photo with the beautiful blue blooms? Please say it's a perennial that will grow in zone 8!
Diana
hmmm, I must be missing something - did you offer anything to trade? ;-)
I'm lucky in some ways. My area seems to be in an air pocket of some kind because rain just seems to settle right overhead. It may not rain anywhere else in the county but it rains here. We've had to undergo major drainage upgrades because parts of the town would be under water if we got a 15 minute deluge.
There were houses right next to city hall that constantly flooded so the city bought the properties and relocated the houses. They use it for a natural flood plain when it rains and a recreational park with walkways and bandstand and picnic table the rest of the time. It's becoming very popular for outdoor events and music venues.
slgrowers - No I didn't offer anything. I posted here because I know my friends read here more often.
Diana! I can divide a plant for you, I have several. It's Campanula Persicifolia.
Dang Jan! That's a lot of water...flooding is tragic to homes.
Nice looking plants, Kim! I see you've got them all potted up. Nice peachleaf bellflower! Are those Early Sunrise coreopsis in the back?
Hey Carol, Those aren't Early Sunrise. But they sure are big...LOL. I grew them last year and they bloomed this year. I've collected some plants I think will do well for you. I think you will like. Your Filipendula started blooming in the water pots I'm holding them in...LOL
Ohhhh Weez, Those are Geum "Lady Something" LOL Want some?
I didn't know geum got that tall! We have a wild variety here that is a real pain in the neck, and I wintered over some domestics I started from seed, but they are still little... and lost in the woods at the moment! When we both get caught up a bit (say, 2008?), we'll have to work on a good plant trade. Did the plants I sent you this spring survive?
Oh Yesss they survived! The Red Aquilegia is blooming! I'm sorry I'm behind. But this box I'm sending is big. LOL So I want to make sure that's all I have for you. I'll dig in the Geum Pot. It says in the PF divide rootball...hmmmmmm.
2008 !!????!! Ha aha ha ha ha haaaa
Woman, all I have to say is you have the bug BAD BAD BAD!!!! I thought I had too much stuff to water!
:)
I guess the longer we wait the heavier the boxes get! By 2008, we'd have to hire cargo containers for shipping! LOL!
Don't feel bad Kim I don't care if they say 90% chance. When it rains on me I will stop watering. It can be pitch black outside, thundering, and lightening and I won't get a drop. It will start raining the next street over lol
Well, I have the opposite complaint......stormed and rained here the other night, and by midday, the Texas heat had wilted and dried out a bunch of plants already!! I was so irritated--there I was, clogging around in gushy muddy yard, watering stuff. Good grief........
=/ MKJ
Kim, was that a storm or what??? My kids slept on my floor (or should I say didn't sleep?). I thought it would never move off!
Barb
Barb, It wasn't that bad...I guess it's because Storms are peaceful for me. They give me my best sleep...LOL
Donna, How are you? I snipped you some white honeysuckle Saturday, got some pink, red, himalayan, gold flame...LOL. You'll have honeysuckle galore. Now let's hope they all root :-/
I spent the day in a covered visquene tent repotting petunias while it rained outside. Rainy, rainy day here, but productive, none-the-less. I still had to water the plants in the greenhouses and tent.
Oh wow it's pretty! If you would do that Kim I'll see if I can scrounge up another rose baby for you, I believe there might be one left around here somewhere :)
Thanks a mil!
Diana
crossing my fingers Kim. No rush. I am feeling better but still not getting around to good and can't do any planting :-(
Well we had the storm from BLANK last night. Pouring rain, wind, I kept waiting for the hail but thank goodness it never came. Will be trimming back fallen flowers I am afraid!!
Nicole
Uttt Ohhhhh
Good grief, Kim. Is that Ruby Port?
I dunno...you sent this one..LOL! I'll go look at the tag..and see what you wrote.
Goodness.......the rains. BUT, here's a good story about them:
My 89 yr. old Grandmother is from Great Britain. When she moved to Waxahachie, TX eons ago, she and my grandfather had a beautiful Queen Elizabeth rose. She's been wanting another one, but always hesitates to order because of pricing.
My local Calloways--because of the constant rains interfering with their greenhousing of roses--just put ALL of their Jackson Perkins 3 gallon rose bushes on sale for $5 each!
My Grannie is thrilled that she's getting J&P Queen, minus full price and shipping!
But, I'll certainly re-acknowledge the downside.......having to transplant, TRYING to rescue, a bunch of bearded irises that are rotting on me today.......=(
MKJ
Yes, the first time these double reds bloomed, I thought they looked exactly like the Ruby Port. I'm glad this plant did well for you. They seem quite hardy here.
