Usually very easy to find at Home Depot, Lowes, Walmart etc. Small ones are very reasonable.

Yes. Budgie is correct. Look in the section where they have the smaller tropicals set up. Usually these are located within a greenhouse enclosure leading into/out of the main store on the garden section side of the store or immediately to your right or left after entering the airconditioned part of the store from the garden section. Though I have seen these many many times there, the have never had more than the same kind (species) each and every time. Good luck to you.

I believe I got mine at Home Depot for a mere $4.

Hey, BugFreak! Hi! How are you? I got a gardenia from you at the Florala roundup; it's doing very, very well.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Dogzilla,
Yes, I do remember. How are you? I have since added two variegated gardenias to my gardenia collection. I'm glad to hear that yours is doing well. I have plenty more if you have any trouble with it. All that I have are in small 4 inch pots. Do you recall which one I gave you?

The staghorn ferns I've seen have been as low as approx. $1.95 or so but it's more common for me to find it closer to $4.00. Sometimes (if you're lucky) you can find them in the discounted items for 1/2 off. (Those are the deals I like to find).

Tallahassee, FL(Zone 8b)

Doing great. I cannot remember which gardenia you gave me, and it's not labeled. You had a flat or two of 'em, IIRC, if that helps. I just cut back my dwarf gardenia and decided to try to root all the cuttings to give away at the next Roundup I go to. (You should come to the North Central Florida one in Lake City in October -- there's a thread on the Roundup forum!)

I also find deals on bromeliads at Home Depot.

Navarre (NW FL), FL(Zone 8b)

Sounds like fun. I'll have to make a note of it. When you root your gardenia, use semi-ripe wood and you should have a good success rate. Good luck. Gardenia Veitchii might be what you have. I think that's what I took to the RU.

Sorry Ilove for running with your thread.

No problem just send me some bromeliads and what ever else you have and
I'll forgive you two. k?

:o) ROTHFLOL ;o)

Doesn't hurt to try.

No problem ever.

geez wheez, staghorn fern for $1-4? I need to move down there. I had a little one which I mounted (I paid $8 for 3" pot) and I really think it was too little to make it. I had to think what I'd have to pay for the size I think I need.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I guess since we live so close vossner. No sense me looking.

Sandy I would strongly encourage you to trade for one. I haven't seen many in houston. In fact, the one I was talking about I bought in Dallas last year. You might do well with a little one, you just have to be a little kinder than I was with mine.

If I stumble across a bargain on staghorns, I'll share the tip w/ you.

let me know to our hd lowes wal mart carry nothing nothing decent.. looked.. i love staghorn fern.. seen one so large had several log chains holding it up... not for sale or any of babys..

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I would like to suggest this. Click on the trading tab up above. Then put staghorn fern in the search block. I think that will look for staghorns on the tradelists of the members.

I just shared a foot with one of our members, but my fern is too small to make any more cuts on.
