This is the photo of H. elliptica I just got.... What an elusive hoya to find!!!
Misc. Photos
I really like the veining in the leaves of the H. elliptica. Ü
I'm really curious Carol.....how many Hoyas do you have in your collection?

I really like H. lobbii. It grows kinda like H. cumingiana, branching out with the flowers coming out underneath. This is a new addition to David's collection...Orange corollas. Even tho' color isn't supposed to make a difference. And I love the leaves of H. clemensiorum...so 'jurassic'!!
Y'know, Lilypon...I have never counted them...but I should. It should be around 200 with Species and hybrids. Good project for a rainy day! I counted the plants around the house, mostly 'Mother Plants' and there are over 300...hanging from the house, trees, bamboo poles etc. I always overdo everything!!
;>)
Ceedub...that is incredible for someone living in the far wild cold NORTH! I am impressed!
Carol
Thank you for the nice compliment Carol. Sometimes they seem to dominate the space here, and decorating is always decorating around plants. I'm in a three storey house, with lots of big windows facing north and south - a dream come true for my "little hobby"...
Here's a picture of the left corner of the south side of my living room - it represents about 20% of the plants in the house. Only one hoya in this pic, on the upper left shelf in the middle - a longifolia shephardii - but you can't see it very well.
But, holy cow Carol, I'm not that far north! In fact its 30C out right now (that's about 86F in American), and my A/C is going. But a month ago, the furnace was still cranked up....lol. Paradise NOT, but its never boring either...
Christine
Wow, that is breath taking. I live in Minneapolis, looks like I will have to get a bigger house so my plants have room. I just moved them into a three season porch for the summer, maybe I don't really need a dining room. I can't cook. Beautiful picture Ceedun!!

Ceedub...your corner looks fantastic!!! Just like a tropical garden!!! At first it botherd DH that plants were put in an 'orderly fashion' (can you tell he is a linear thinker?)...but spots of color in green and contrasting textures...now he has the picture...but still wants even spaces etc. ARGHHHHH. So...you have gotten the look even up there....and with your low light in the winter....they will be right at home as they live as understory plants...
Nice going!!
Carol
Just went back to look again...is that a Hibiscus in the window? WOW!
Hi Carol. Yes, not a good pic of her though, just one flower poking into the shot. She loves that window and blooms year-round now. In fact I was so awed when she bloomed this past December that I started a thread about it - http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/474377/
Carol, your H. lobbii bloom is gorgeous..maybe its been covered but does it have any scent?...and in your other thread where you showed the pic of the compacta twining around the tree, that was so cool to see.....
Christine, your pic of your plants are awesome...i was going to comment on your hibiscus bloom too....also beautiful, I love them blooming.....i have always wanted to try one but thought they would be hard to grow.....your hubby got smart but hasnt completely crossed over if he still drags you away from the plants in the stores!....at least he has shown an interest in what they are doing in your house....lol..especially after all the hoyas you are acquiring....its a great hobby
Sandy
Wow Christine, your plants are just awesome!! They all look so healthy and happy.
Blessings,
Awanda
The H. lobbii is hiding any scent she has...and I haven't been out at night to check... ;>(
Thanks Sandy and Awanda. They make me happy so I keep them happy, exercising my green thumb. Sandy, my inside Hibiscus is happy if I give it a few hours of good sun every day, a good drenching every two days and Miracle Grow once every two weeks. I have two new ones and they're happy outside now on my south-facing deck; very hot, strong sun and a daily watering.
Carol I just received my elliptica 10 days ago and I can see the roots coming out of the mix, stright up, also the magnifica has rooted! :)
Cindy
Thanks for posting the pic of H. elliptica Carol. Nice looking leaves.
Cool looking corner Christine! Had to laugh about your comment about not being that far north. Texas joke: North is anything north of Dallas. (I laugh as the sweat starts dripping after being outdoors for 15 minutes.) It's going to be a long, long summer and it's only just begun.
