I have a large circle urn planter and it's off the ground on like an upside down urn stand. I thought it would look really nice on the informal front porch and so it'll be in shade. Not deep shade but shade.
The porch is contrete so it's not as hot as ...off the porch, we get temps at 100 degrees nearly every day in the summer.
I need some plant suggestions, I can't think of any for shade. I want really showy flowers that are very exotic and tropical looking and the foliage should be as well. I want to line the rim with cascading flowers and the inside center with something bushy and full (flowers) but that doesn't get too big, maybe like a foot tall.
Any ideas? If this was for sun, it would be a breeze. Thanks!
Need some ideas
How about a showy Anthurium. Caladiums could give you wonderful color but no blooms. I also really like the Million Bells Petunia for something to cascade and be in and bloom constantly. Since the planter will not be in deep shade, they should do ok.
Silver Dichondra to trail over the edge in a cascade effect..
:-)
How about a cane begonia to go in the center? It will bloom too and doesn't have big roots to compete with other plants or really deep roots. I have some planted with swedish ivy that look really nice and another pot lanted with variegated wondering jew. It pretty carefree with an occassional watering because I mixed half /half potting soil that had the new water crystals in it with extra perlite. It's done pretty good .
