Can anyone identify?
Is this tobacco mosaic?
caraboff,
I sure hope not. Can you take it to your Cnty Ag Agent?
Maybe Monika will stop in tonight and give her opinion.

Here is an old thread you can take a look at.

If it is, I know I've never had it. You should post your photo to the proper forum, if it is, because it's a very good pic, even tho it looks like it's 'serious'...
It seems to me, that the discoloration, starting at the top and top margins and working down...looks more nutritional...but don't take that to the bank.
I have just lived thru a scare in my Greenhouse....what I saw was wierd discoloration and deformed leaves...and they were tested for TMV, CMV plus other mosaic viruses and other viruses. After sweating it out for weeks while the leaves were at the Plant Pathology Lab in Honolulu...the reports came back Negative. We then started addressing the nutritional angle...gave a big flush with epsom salts and calcium, then a good feed...everyone turned around and look good! I lost a lot of sleep tho...stopped shipping and put everything on hold.
There are some good sites I found (and lost) about nutritional deficiencies and their 'signs'....
I would keep your plant separate and then talk to your Ext. Agent....
Good Luck!
BTW -
It is not a Virus!
It is typical for the lack of nutrients. Too low or too high of a ph-value can also cause this.
Monika,
What would we do without you. Thanks!!
Judy
YEA!!!! Thanks Monika! ::::smootch::::::
Last year, on the tomato forum, I found out that the tabacco mosaic virus doesn't happen anymore because tobacco is grown differently or something along that line. Carolyn, who is like Monika on that forum said this. But I was wondering about that - what about wild tobacco that hasn't been treated? It doesn't grow around here, but I heard that cigarettes will no longer harm them. Last year Russ was flicking his cigarette ash on one of my tomato plants in front of our porch. I blamed it on that but was told otherwise by Carolyn.
