yes I know Ginny names, names..

more pictures to follow
so of my iris
An impressive collection! Most look like dwarfs...it that so? Our local nursery only offers 3 dwarf cultivars. We have a terrible time with iris botrytis...the leaves look horrible by mid-July. That's why few people here bother with bearded. I have two simply for sentimental reasons. I much prefer the Siberians as they are disease and insect free in our area.
Todd
that is a pretty one,
thanks for sharing..
Wilma
Todd
I have mini's to TB
TB are just budding now,
have some really beauties, can't wait for them to bloom
should be soon,, will post pictures when they do,
Ok, I have to ask, 'cause I am so new to Iris. I only have 4 varieties. Most of the ones around my Pond are Siberian, I think... they stand about 3 feet tall. I have a few in another area that are very tall, I think I posted a picture of one of them this past week. How can I tell the difference between the TB and the SIB? Thanks, I can use the help.
Donna
these are so pretty,
for me I can tell by the leaves, if they are long and slim they are siberians
and if the are wide leaves they are TB
But Ginny could explain this much better,,
checkout the leaves and they will be different.
hope that this helps a bit..
Wilma, names names indeed.
the first one is Cherry Garden. We will have to have a talk about this. Namesare needed for iris and lilies and hostas and hens & chicks and clematis and and and and
Donna, this is the website for CIS. At least I think so, off the top of my head. If not, you can google it.
Go and read and learn about the diff. types of iris.
Todd, how I wish we could grow junos here.

Lilypon thanks,
love the ones you have too..
Wilma
Thanks Pam, but mine is actually a light purple/mauve color, but looks bluer in the photo. Yours is a lovely shade of blue too. I also like the burgandy colored one too. Mine are all purples, light and dark, and different shades and varieties of yellow. I have no idea of their names as they were all here and established by the time we moved in.
Thanks Ginny, I'll definitely check out that website. :)
Donna, look at the rhizone of your iris...if there is a thick rhizome at or near the surface and more-or-less individual fans of wide leaves arising at the ends of the rhizome then its bearded. Siberians form a grass-like clump of narrow, often arching leaves with no visible rhizome. Siberians usually bloom much later than the bearded.
Thank you Todd, just from your description I was able to ascertain that these must all be Tall Bearded Iris, and on close inspection, that belief is confirmed. I obviously have lots to learn about these beauties. Thanks for explaining it in terms I understand so that by adding a few photos from the net, and I think I understand the differences between them all now. Much obliged. :Donna
Great looking Iris, Hau and dillpickle. Your Savannah Sunset is a beauty, Hau. and I really like the first one you posted Wilma. Is that a mini?
Donna
not a mini ,but midi size iris
I love all Irises but the top four have really captured my attention April.....could you post all of the unkowns in the ID Forum? But first wait till Todd and Inanda sees this post...they may save you the trouble.
