Shipping Staghorn

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

With some help I removed one large foot from my Staghorn fern to share with a friend. Now I have to ship it.

I don't have any sphagnum moss, so without that, what are your best ideas on packing one of these. I already have a box to fit it in and at the present the foot is in a paper bag.

Please advise.

Thanks
Molly

Just last week I separated a huge staghorn and mailed my mother several divisions- the shipping took 4 days and everything came through in excellent shape. I simply wrapped the base fronds in a baggie to keep them semi humid and cushioned them in shredded newspaper in a box. They were not air tight by any means- just loosly bagged. They're pretty forgiving plants.

Thanks so much!!!! I figured it wouldn't be too difficult since it lives on the end of a chain.

Cutting it's foot off was probably the worst part of the whole thing.

I appreciate your help.
