Iris problem, need transplanting....

Aurora, TX(Zone 8a)

I have several bearded irises in beds that my husband has "fixed." Meaning, he adjusted the sprinkler systems, watering everything more, and has killed half my irises! They're rotting, and falling over. I've decided that I'll need to put them in a remote bed, where they'll get very little watering.

When is it ok to dig them up and transplant? Here in TX, it's hot already, and I know that you're supposed to divide in fall, but they'll all die first!

I really don't want to lose all of my beautiful bulbs.......can I dig them up, dry them out and replant? Just transplant? Gamble 'til fall?

Help!

I'm no expert, but I'd transplant them just like any other plant. I wouldn't recomend a whole lot of dividing right now, but transplanting should work.

Good Luck!

Take a look at the thread "Help - now" in the IRIS forum. Laurief's response there may also be helpful for you.
