Hello to all from the North Carolina Mountains!
I have been lurking at Dave’s Garden now for sometime, but just joined up today. I have some plants to trade if anyone is interested. Please be patient with me. I have not done this before and am keeping my fingers crossed I can mail plants! I may need some advice on that….
I have to trade:
Cinnamon Vine Seedlings ( http://www.ppws.vt.edu/scott/weed_id/diuba.htm) They smell like cinammon in late summer
Corkscrew Willow “Scarlet Curls” cuttings (I just put these in the water to root today. I can wait to mail them until they’re rooted or go ahead and send the cutting)
Artemisia--Silver King
Chameleon Plant
Chinese Bloodroot (http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/39078/ )
Columbines (reds and purples)
Yellow Creeping Jenny
Gold Leaf Tansy 'Isla Gold'
Green/Yellow Variegated Mint (I THINK it’s lemon—it’s good in tea)
Lady's Mantle
Lily of the Valley
Purple Garden Phlox
Purple Joe Pye Weed
Purple Spurge (euphorbia amygdaloides?—not sure—it’s purple leafed with a small yellow flower—reseeds)
Queen of the Prairie
Sedum-Autumn Joy (just one right now)
Sweet Woodruff
White Aster (don’t know what kind?? really nice little plant--about 1 foot tall)
Anyway, if anyone is interested in trading for any of these, I am looking for unusual coleus cuttings or rootings—most specifically for lighter colored varieties. Some particular ones I want are:
Blond Bombshell
Batique Fetish
Careless Love
Cinder Kinder
Dappled Dawn
Desert Lace
Glennis
Live Wire
I am also looking for “different” hollyhock seeds (singles, not doubles). I have plenty of purples, pinks, reds and blacks, but other, lighter colors would be appreciated.
Also looking to trade for sensitive ferns or royal ferns or deer ferns especially.
Thanks to all of you for making this such a great site!
Here's What I've Got. What Do You Have?

Thanks so much for your welcome and your generous offers! I am happy to trade with all of you.
As for the questions about the "Scarlet Curls" willow. I put in a large cutting of this tree around 8 years ago. It is a vigorous grower. My tree is now about 12 feet tall and is a beautiful corkscrew willow with twisted branches and year round interest. It is good from zones 5-8. The leaves themselves are green, but the new growth branches are red--the red becomes more intense after the last frost of the season, and the red shows up all winter. The red color in the new growth is GREAT for winter decoration. I actually use pieces of it to decorate Christmas packages in place of bows. We also freely cut it in late winter to force in large vases indoors. You can shape the tree in any way you please or just let it go.
I have a digital camera and would love to provide a pic. How do I do this? Do I upload onto my own server and then provide a hyperlink? Or can I upload directly onto Dave's site???
The willow is very easy to root. Please let me know if you want me to send unrooted cuttings or if you want me to get them rooted and then mail.
I have read the "Tips" on mailing plants, and I will try to follow them. I guess I should not mail plants planted in their pots, right? Just take out of the pots and wrap? Any and all tips on mailing greatly appreciated.
It's very nice to meet all of you.
As for the aster... we bought the aster from We-Du Nurseries (now Meadowbrook Nurseries) in the srping of 2000. It was sold to us as Aster Novae-angliae "Snow Flurry." A New England Aster. (Thank goodness for Garden Journals)
Paridise: that is a beautiful fern. Do you know what kind it is? I saw you might have an ostrich fern--if so, I would love one.
Kachinagirl: I would love some of your hollyhock seeds, especially the yellow ones.
vwetzel: I would be interested in some of your hens and chicks. I am also interested in a rose cutting, but I don't know which one and would ask you to make a choice for me. We live in the northern NC mountains. We are very wet as a rule here, have a relatively short growing season, and have severe winters. As a result, I haven't had much luck with roses. If you have a rose cutting that is adaptable, I would like to give it a try.
CountryBumkin--I did not get an email from you, but I'm interested in trading. I would take some of your winter jasmine?
Pixydish: I would love some of your ferns!

You will have mail shortly..
