Queen of Seed Death No More...:)

LOOK! I'm amazed ...I did it,really I did it...and no it ain't bird seeds.

These are seedling Alosbia's! I can't believe they actually germinated.
I bought a little plant of Alsobia dianthflora and happened to find a seed pod on it. Sooooo I figured what have I got to loose( except more a lil more dignity) so I emailed Ki and ask how to plant them.. I followed the instructions and IT WORKED!lol

Thanks Ki!!!

hey, congrats!

now.... don't do anything different... .... .... not until you've got 2-3 pairs of true leaves :-)

Congratulations!

Although for me, my problems start at this stage. They germinate in half the time they're supposed to, and they stay sprouts forever until they die. :( I'm working on it though!

I've only had post-sprouting problems once, and that's with a wierd tiny strep species (not a hybrid).

Generally, I don't do anything different after they sprout. No additional water, no additional light.... My mix remains adequately moist for several months - long enough for the 2 or 3 pairs of true leaves. (It's not that the mix was very moist, but rather that I start seeds in quite humid conditions and they stay humid consistently (e.g., under a propagation dome).) I also start my seeds on the same shelves as plants that get a little more light than my AVs, so if you're starting with less, you might want to up the light. I really honestly don't touch the seed baggies/domes for months and months. (I'm sure the pros fiddle more to get faster growing plants, but it's risky if you don't know what you're doing, and I am too lazy to even think about it.)

WOW ! Now the Alosbia's plants are my favorite :))
