I would love them...what would you like in trade?....do you have names on them so I could look them up or just search for koolaid smelling iris?..lolol....Judy

West Central, WI(Zone 4a)

I think I have one that smells grapey too. But a self--not a two tone. Bluish lavender w and orangey beard. Blooming now~32in tall. I don't have a pic of it and it is not named. But saw a good look alike when scoping out some historics. I could direct you to that photo if you like. I have other irised--w/o scent or names if you are looking for additions to a box.
Let me know.

I just looked out the window and the blooms are gone. Boo hoo. I did find this old pic. It is blurry but you can see the flower. http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=28638 A few years ago, I got a collection from someone. I believe there were 13 of them. This was one of them. The man had bought them from a collection and gave me the names and they are in the basement in a notebook somewhere. :( The others are most likely the antique/historic variety everyone has. I probably have a new pic of those.

The iris you're looking for practically grows wild here in TN. I have them everywhere, even on a mushy creek bank, and nothing bothers them! They get about 36-40" tall and are a pale blue-purple; the flower is slightly smaller than a bearded. I always tell people that they smell like grape jelly. The Gilbert Wild catalog had an iris they are calling English Cottage that sounds like this one. If you still want some, I can send as many as you'd like in a trade.

I used to have some of those that a neighbor gave me that I lost in a move! rebirdfarm, would you have any you might be able to trade me? You don't seem to have a wish list - what do you want?
thanks!

Killer, I will be happy to send you some. These iris have walked themselves out into my driveway and I have bucketfuls! Pardon me, but I'm new to this - by "wish list", do you mean a tradelist? In one of my posts for the S/S secret plant trade, I listed some of the plants I was looking for. I forgot to list bamboo - my husband is crazy to get his hands on some (don't ask ME why!) and I'm looking for any kind of water iris except yellow, but I'm sure we could find something to trade.

redbirdfarm - I see you have cannas listed - do you already have Bengal Tiger cann (Pretoria canna)? I can send those, I have plenty. If not, lemme know - I can find something you want I'm sure.

Hi Redbird, I took a look at your wish list on the other post, and I have a good start of Seven Sisters Rose I could send for some grape irises. It was my granny's rose, and has come up where ever it touched the ground in our flowerbed. It blooms only once in the spring, and has tones of pink in the blooms. It's a vigorous climber. She had it woven into a chain link fence. Since I don't have one of those, it flops down to the ground, and miracle of miracles, it roots!! I'd love some of your iris. I'm new to trading, too, and I was thrilled I had something you might need. Let me know if you'd like to trade. Thanks! bronwyn
