Big Yella's suckers' sucker.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I rooted this over the 2003/2004 winter. It was a 7 ft sucker of Big Yella. I did 2 for my courtyard. Now this one has 2 6-7 ft suckers of their own so fast. I have never had such an aggressive brug. It just gets so huge thru suckering. It is kind of neat. Instead of a bush type with all crisscrossed limbs, this one puts out straight suckers radiating out of a center standard. All straight and tall just all at different degrees from the center one.

She's a beauty, Kell.

My cuttings from Big Yella didn't make it through the winter. I simply don't have the right conditions and lost about 2/3 of my cu ttings. You don't happen to have another Big Yella do you?

Kell, I've REALLY tried to hold back from wanting every one, but I would LOVE a tiny (ok tall) cutting of BY. If you're making a list, I would love to be on it.

Let me finish all I owe first before I make more promises. I love to promise but hate to pack up those boxes. I should just take a whole day and get them out in one big push!

It is so rare to find such a deep yellar flower like that one! I LOVE it.
I will wait and beg a cutting later. You are entirely too sweet to send out so many plants to so many people. And, packing those boxes is a real pain and the postage adds up. It is rare to find someone with your generosity!

I know, I know, packing cuttings takes a lots of time. The few I've sent seemed to take so long to prepare, pack and take to the PO, then you never hear back if they even got there or how they're doing.

It's just that you post those perfect blooms (like the one above) and we all think that we can do that too and my little brain says 'got to have it, got to have it' - I'm really trying to be more controlled.

Maybe you could hire someone to help you (you know I'm kidding here).

Awesome!!! I will begin sniveling and begging later!!!

LOL Mel, you are just buttering me up so you do not get pictures instead of plants. LOL. Among my closest friends, I am famous for promising them plants, which I have set aside for the person I promised them to, then instead of sending the actual plants I send pictures of them as they grow and flower.

This brug starts yellow and then can get so orange if the conditions are right. Linda, anyone can grow this one. It is so bountiful and easy. Well most of them are, but this one has a will to survive and flourish which makes it hard to kill. I always try to remember to add this one to every box I send out, whether requested or not. LOL

My favorite pic I have of it.

I remember that one, I think that's when it became one of my 'must have' brugs.

Awesome Kell. Hope her off spring turn out just as nice. My 3 seedlings are over 3' now and very healthy.

He's a beauty Kell. If possible, could you post photographs of the two Big Yellas in your courtyard? I'd love to see them growing in place with your other plants.

The sun is right behind them now, but I will take one later, Delecie. Tonight when my DH comes home, both will get pulled out of their 20+ gallon pots, the root ball cut by half, the suckers taken off, and the winter damage pruned off. Then they will really take off. I have 3 brugs left to root prune and repot. I am so late this year. I did 2 last night.

Kell Honey.... :)~

Normally I don't ask for anything, But I would love to have a cutting of BY to use in my hybridizing program. I am in no hurry at all to get it, well late into the summer or fall would be fine with me. And I will send you postage money for sure.

What do you think about using BY and this seedling that I am still trialing as dancing partners?

LOL, he's calling you honey. Maybe that will work.
The one you sent me last year rooted nicely and bloomed pretty good for a cool, shady spot in the garden. But the cuttings didn't make it. Not even one! I'm going to rig up something different this year. I think mine turned more orangey than yours are here in the pictures.

That is one incredible Brug!! Talk about an awesome gene pool!

Julie,

All of my brugs are taking their sweet ole time about putting out new growth. I am waiting on this brug to put out a nice side shoot to root for you. I don't want to cut on the top growth any more until this fall. Still waiting on it to make a new Y from all of the die back that happened over the winter. I have not forgot about you, will get this one and the other one I mentioned out, just as soon as I can.

Harlem, GA(Zone 8a)

Not to worry david, I know how long it takes to get them going after overwintering...some of mine made it and some didn't. Oh well...most of mine weren't named one's that I lost :-( Good luck David, I'm glad all is going well

Hugs
Julie
