Hoyas on my mind/trees

Keaau, HI(Zone 11)

OK, I should get a life. But I really enjoy taking photos...and especially love showing them....

This is a dischidia growing outside the front door...now blooming! Under the dischidia is a teeny tiny orchid, and above it the long narrow leaves are Tillansias...and the pale sickly looking leaf is a H. carnosa that has been there for 10 years and 40' up the tree. I never see it!

This tree is at the corner where I have poles where I hang some of my hoyas...the tree has a philo, H. australis, H. sp. Tanna Island and H. anulata growing up it...from the pots.

Now...this leaf blew my mind. It is on a big H. verticillata in a pot. The marker I am holding up is 3.5 x 2.5 just for comparison. It is easily 3x bigger than any other leaf...OK, maybe not that much, but at least 2.5x. Leaves make liars out of us all the time.

This is H. camphorifolia growing up a tree. The vine is covered with blossoms, which aren't all that big, but they scream at you they are such a bright pink....Some say this is a borning hoya...I like it for the coloration of the leaves in high light AND because it loves to bloom.

This is H. sp. aff. fraterna...growing on an 18" hoop. It had just finished raining, so the leaves are wet. I was amazed at how big that umbel is in comparison to the rest of the plant.

Another corner where I hang my hoyas...they are getting out of control.

Wonderful Carol, thanks for sharing your yard with us.
Looks like you live in a tropical paradise! I can invision Tarzan swinging from the vines through there. Ha.
How do you keep from losing track of your hoyas? Looks as if they just almost become part of the jungle. Ha

Well Carol if I lived in "plant paradise" I could post pictures like that too!! And yes, I am a tad envious:-).

Yes, they are becoming part of the " 'scape" .. which is my goal...to have them all growing naturally. I will keep some of them in pots to restart them up the trees They get so high I really can't see the blooms!!

Aloha

Carol your pictures are wonderful. Perfect plants in a perfect setting. Not seeing the blooms because they plants are growing so high up the trees though, that's tough, but I guess its just your personal cross to bear .....lol. (What? Me, sarcastic?)
Christine.
