Solanum quitoense (Naranjilla)

Long Beach, CA

Does anyone know about this plant? I have 3 of them in containers, and get the big one to flower, but it never makes any fruit. This is the second year I have had it make lots of flowers up the stem, only to have them fall off before making fruit. Is there a special pollenator or something?
The plants look healthy and grow fine except for this one big dissapointment.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Marcy,
I have grown this plant for about 2 years now. I overwintered it in my gh in a pot but last year it stayed out in the yard in full sun. I now have it planted directly in the ground.

I don't do anything special to it and it stays loaded with fruit all the time, in fact it has fruit on it right now.

If you dont have it in the sun try moving it into full sunlght and see what happens, I also never allow mine to dry out but nor do I keep it soaking wet.

When and if you do get yours to fruit, dont eat it. Though the fruit is edible you would have to love the taste of cardboard to say that you like it!

Hope I helped a little, but I really dont know much about the plant myself other than I would certainly hate to fall or be pushed into one!!(LOL)
