I am posting this picture for Calicat aka Cindy. Her serpens has bloomed and she said it has a wonderful smell. PS I was tempted to post it as my serpens:-)
Blessings,
Awanda
Calicat serpens bloom!!
Lovely! I will have to find this one.
Way to go, Calicat!!! Mine is full of peduncles but they haven't formed anything.
Awanda, is your jungle of Serpens going to bloom?
Carol
PS I did turn my H. shephardii around to see the back...she is 5' long and 2' in diameter. The whole back side (shadiest) was solid blooms. Go figger....not in the front (light side) of the plant at all!!!. I tried to move her to hang outside the bedroom, but she and H. erythrina are having a "thing going on" and are so intertwined 15' up I will have to cut it!!!
I don't grow the tiny's,but when they bloom they are just awsome!!
Dianne
It's still amazing me the way so many people are getting H. serpens blooms this year, when all the other years they are so hard to get to bloom. Wonder what is going on? Did you use anything different or special this year, Cindy? I used some Messenger, but everything else was the same as last year. I still suspect a weather patern change. We are having a much cooler spring/summer so far this year.
Marcy
Mine was going to bloom last spring but my sister was taking care of it and the blooms dried up because she forgot to water it. :( I have had it for 3 yrs and 5 months and I keep it in the laundry room under shop lights, no heat at all. Mine grows cool and does really well. :)
Cindy
Hey, Cindy...glad to see you! Happy June Oneth!
You have inspired me...off to find a cool place for Ms. serpens.
Beautiful plant...you sure have the touch!
Carol
Thank you Carol! Happy june 1st to you too! =)
Cindy
I got H. serpens from Logees a few months back in a 2 1/2 inch pot. It has since filled a 6 inch pot,is growing out of control and has many peduncles on it.
At least 2 of them have buds that are almost fully formed and should open within the next week.
The plant is located out in my back yard with the rest of my hoyas and they are all under a wild persimmon tree where they get bright indirect light
Man, Cindy has some of the nicest Hoyas I have ever seen! The serpens is absolutely fabulous.
David, your luck is amazing. I have had a pot of serpens from Logees for 3 years and yet to have a bloom. She makes tons of peduncles, which always seem to blast before blooming.
I will try moving the pot to a cooler area.
