Here she is...I 'think' (euphamism for 'HUH?) it was the end of March I got this beauty. Now, two months later and she is strong and happy!!!
The green cutting is still struggling...4 leaves and having trouble. I am rather afraidof green cuttings now.
MAYA field test...Keaau, HI
I also have problems with green cuttings. Good luck.
Looks beautiful - both of mine bit the dust....
Good going!
(I lost my little green tip cutting afer several weeks - you've done well to keep yours alive)
The other is strong and growing; transplanted into its permanent pot several days ago
Looking good. How long has it been in ground?
Is it in intermittent sun with trees around or full sun?
I figured you'd already have ran away from the 2 up here but it looks like we're neck-and-neck. Mine finally went outside last week. They've been sitting under a slat shelf during the day and set out in full sun in the morning and late afternoon. I'm wondering if they'll burn in full sun. Since I planted the peaches and cream in ground where it only gets full sun from about 8-12, the variegation contrast is becoming bolder again like when it was in the basement.
Ohhhh Carol. Good Job !
Now tell us about that elusive Hawaiian flora in the corner of your picture.
I'm not to sure('-'?) but it looks to me like it could be the dreaded Hawaiian Buutus var. legharius.
I have heard that they cause some plants to suddenly keel over in a smashed down position.
I strongly advise you get your digger and move it far away from Maya for safety's sake.
LOL Scooterbug...I wanted something in the photo to show proportion! When I got the digger out it went away...but then, I have trained mine well!!!
Blaine, she's been in the ground for about 3 weeks. She gets full sun at noon and the rest of the time filtered sun. The sun doesn't seem to bother her. She has grown by about 1/3 since going in the ground.
I also put in a Peaches n'Cream at the same time....morning sun and she loves it. Yes, the color contrasts are quite stark now!
Scoot, I just sprayed my puter screen with bottled water, and did a backwards sneeze, whew, that's funny!
Beautiful Maya Carol!!! I love Maya because she doesn't seem to mind the sun, and, so far, isn't a bug magnet and her foliage is sooooo pretty and healthy....
Sherry , that is the same reason I love my Maya, bugs don't seem to care for her thick fuzzy leaves and she thrives in full sun (up here).
Will be interesting to see how she fares in full sun in a hotter climate, eh Carol ?
I'm thinking if Maya makes it here, with our sun, she can make it any place. What a delight she is, one of my very favorites...
I cheated and put her in sun/shade. If her sister ever grows up, I will plant her in full sun!!! That'll show her!!
;>)
LOL
