Well, alrighty then...

Aurora, IL

Been visiting and posting for weeks now and just found this forum! I'm a novice gardener, anyway that's what my Mom calls me. I love plants! And I have jumped in wholeheartedly. I try to learn everything I can about what I am planting. This year I am attempting a 'fragrant garden.' I didn't take into consideration that things bloom at different times! Oh well, it does smell nice!

Hello Sue, welcome! I hadn't thought about a fragrant garden and it is a very good idea. My two best fragrant flowers are violets and allyssum. When they bloom the whole yard smells wonderful. I only have 3 rose bushes besides the wild ones that occupy two corners of my yard next to the fence. They are just starting to bloom now so it smells good out there again! Thanks for the idea.

jasmerr, Already do!
MaryE, I have Allysum, too and it does smell wonderful. It is actually what got me started on the fragrant garden! I am planting all sorts of flowers this year and trying to figure out what I like. Not everyone agrees on this point, so it's a 'smell as you go' work in progress! LOL I have planted Four O'clocks, Verbena (which does smell nice, in my humble opinion), scented Geranium, scented Glads, Evening Primrose, Stock, Bee Balm, Sweet Sultan, Oriental Hybrid Lilies, Garden Phlox, Sweet Rocket, Butterfly Weed, Moon Flower, Sweet Pea and Primula. I have two rose bushes but neither is very fragrant, pretty, though.
Cheryl_IL, Thank You, my hubby works up in your area, Hoffman Estates!
Moonglow, I know! I have been so impressed with everyone here!

Welcome! I hope you enjoy it here as much as we all do. I grew up in southern IL, so I still call IL home. Love it there.
