Does anyone have any advice on what equipment I would need to create a small pond.
I want to have a 5ft x 4in stream feeding a pond about 3ft x 2.5ft and 2ft deep. My brother has a
UV filter system that comes with a pump and he said it cleans the water real nice. I will not be having
any fish in it, but may want a lily. Will such a filter/[ump system be good or would I need additional things.
Thanks for the input!

New Pond Advise
Hi Brian,
My pond is just getting set up and working, but I can tell you that I'd avise both mechanical and biological filtration based on my research. I didn't realize how much junk would be getting into the pond, but I have to clean my skimmer at least every other day. With a pond that small, your biological filtration would be very important. It's actually easier to keep a larger pond in balance, same as it is with aquariums. If you don't have fish, you'll have less trouble, but are you sure you won't want them? When I started my pond, it was going to be about 500 gallons. At the final point where I bought the liner, it was almost 4500 gallons!
The UV light will kill suspended algea, but I think it will also kill your good bacteria. Hope you get a response from some of the experienced people here!
