Oh Linda. I feel so bad! You and Cheryl must be heartsick. Please, please know how sorry I am. I know how much you loved Kayla. She was such a sweetheart. She did have a wonderful life with you and Cheryl and knew how much you loved her. Remember that she'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Thank you all for your kind words of support. I knew of Rainbow Ridge, and am happy that she can run ike she used to, and swim to her heart's content.

Kayla had been failing a lot the past week or so. Yesterday we finally understood what eveyone had been saying "you'll know when it's time"

She had a lovely day today. She laid out in her favourite spot in the yard for about 4 hours. We gave her forbidden treats (she's a diabetic) We had a few close friends over and they all visited with her. We were sitting on the ground with her when the vet came. He was so good to her. She was very calm, and died very peacefully with her head resting on my leg.

She was very intuitive, loving, playful and a wonderful friend. She will always have a special place in our hearts

I think, for now, I'm all cried out, well almost anyway.

We have been busy this afternoon, now that's it's cooled off a bit, I tore out the yucca plants in the front. I hated them, and it's good physical energy for me right now. We went out and got a Vulcan Flame rhodo, a nice deep red one, that I'll put in there.

Thankyou everyone, it's as if I can feel your comforting arms around us.

((hugs))

Linda, I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. You have a wonderful vet who will come so that you can let her go peacefully.

How wonderful that you were able to have the Vet out to your place so that Kayla could be comfortable. What could be better than that. When the time comes for my purrbaby, who is also of advanced age, I will try and arrange that too. So much less traumatic for them. I am glad you feeling better now, Linda. Please pass along my sympathies to Cheryl too, will you?

Me crying too. I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet Kayla. She was such a sweet soul. Big hugs. Nothing can really help at this point except knowing that you did what needed to be done. It just doesn't make it hurt any less. It's the empty spots all over that keep tugging at you. God bless.

Oh Linda.....Kayla was such a beautiful, gentle dog. I am so sorry.
You will always have your good memories of her and know that she has gone to a place where she can run and romp like she used to.

I'm so sorry. I can't find the right words to express myself.

Thank you everyone, for the comforting words, and hugs.

So far today, it's OK, we talk about her, miss her, realise she was a big dog, because now there's space. Emptyness rather.

Cheryl cleaned everything of hers, and put it all away. There's no sign of her having lived here, except for photos, and of course her stray hairs that will be around for a long time. I guess that's her way of dealing with it.

We saw an add for a puppy, a great peryeness(sp) crossed with a malamut. We do like big dogs, but thought that because we are going away for 6 weeks this winter, we'd wait at least until we got back to get another dog.

On the good news side of things, Cheryl's daughter, who's been reacting with hives to antibiotics for the last 2 weeks because of new allergies, (has strep throat), came out in a bright red rash spreading over most of her body. We were afraid it was scarlet fever, looked very typical of it. Thankfully, it wasn't. Yesterday was a rotten day. Today the sun it shinning, it's 29* outside, 40* on the deck, and we have lots of flowers flowering. One day at time, we will make it.

Thank you again for the kind words, thoughts, prayers and support. They mean more than you can know.

Oh Linda and Cheryl. I am so sorry! I love Rainbow Bridge and send it to all friends who lose a pet. Such a lovely concept. I am delighted to have known Kayla, if only for an evening, for she was a wise and gentle soul. May your memories of the good times eclipse the sadness of your loss, and soon.

I am so sorry for your loss Linda. I know from experience that this is one of the hardest things we ever have to do for our furry family members. But I know too that our memories of them eventually bring smiles through the tears and keep them elive in our hearts. --Ginny

I am a bit late reading this.........I am so sorry for your loss Cheryl and Linda.
I too have an old Border Collie-Saydie who is 12+. I am happy to have had the opportunity to meet Kayla-such a gentle and kind soul (much like both her mom's!).Treasure your memories with Kayla and start new ones with a new pet who will surely appreciate your loving home.
What a wonderful vet who makes house calls!
I still long after my late Lab "Solomon" who died many many years ago.
In memory, I use his name on Dave's. Maybe you can now be "Kayla" instead of MG99!
Take good care, Lana.

I'm so sorry to hear about Kayla. She was such a wonderful, sweet dog. I'm glad that I had the chance to meet her.

Sorry, I know I'm rather late with my condolances but I haven't been on the computer much lately....too busy either working or gardening. I'm at work at the moment actually....in a computer lab with only 2 students this block.

Hi Sandy, nice to hear from you. I think of you everytime I look at the Passiflora you gave me at the RU. It is growing in leaps and bounds. And as you said it would, is now displaying the Passifora traits like the 3 prong leaves and tendrils. But it has climbed to the top of my picture window in the Living Room already. Yikes!
