A few weeks ago, I bought a CG brug from a local nursery that had buds on it. Poor thing sulked in all of the rain we've been having. Tuesday was really nice and windy. It was so windy, half of the plant broke off :( Needless to say the remaining half was immediately staked. After I got home from work, I noticed the bloom had started to open. I've never seen a brug bloom outside of in photos so I couldn't wait. 15 minutes ago, I turned on the outside light and the beautiful, very fragrant bloom is fully open. I sat on the ground with the bloom over my nose and enjoyed the wondeful fragrance. Now I understand why you all are hooked on these! I had to snap a pic too. How long do CG blooms usually last for?
My first brug bloom!
Congrats on your first bloom. Looks beautiful.
I believe it's Official Emily is Hook'd........
LOL
I have lot's of buds now and a couple that may bloom tomorrow. This heat wave has taken it's toll on a few the past couple of days. It's never a gradual change from Cold to Hot here in Oregon....LOL
Congratulations on your first bllom! If the blooms open at night, do they remain open all the next day?
Susan
Congratulations on your beautiful bloom.
Congrats Emily. Enjoy. You could have your bloom to smell and enjoy for up to 5 days or more, depending on the weather conditions.
Congrat Emily....that is great! I remember how excited I was to see my first brug bloom. Doesn't it smell heavenly??? Enjoy!!!
Smells heavenly. I can't wait to smell it again tonight.
What kinds of brugs are good for beginners? I'm looking for brugs that have large blooms, bloom often, fast growers, and have fragrant blooms. Here's what I have already: 2 Charles Grimaldi, Frosty Pink, Versicolor Peach, and one unknown. I'm looking to add a couple more to my collection.
Congratulations Emily! How very exciting for you. And after all the trauma it went through, it still rewarded you. I cant wait for the night I smell the blooms again.
I took a close look at the plant this morning and noticed the start of two more buds at the very top. I'm giving it banana food which is 15-5-30 + nutrients 1x week. Is 1x a week enough considering how quickly it's putting on new growth and sucking up the water?
These are so wonderful. I want more! I see a trip to the nursery in my future tonight :)
Emily way to go!!! She's really pretty, congrats!
At the nusery was another Charles Grimaldi with one bud a few days from opening and 6 more forming. For only $13, I couldn't pass it up. From what I've read, CG is a good one for beginners as it's easy to grow and spits out a lot of blooms.
