I have a foxtail palm that I bought from Home Depot, and just a few days ago, I noticed that its new spear was fried. While I was messing with it a little, I noticed it was loose. I was able to pull out the whole spear out from the palm. It was about 2 feet long, covered in little white worms, and smelled like rotten fish. Is this the end of my foxtail? Can palms live if they loose their new spear? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like the whole inside of the crown shaft is eaten...and the "heart of the palm" is the crown shaft and up...from what I know...sounds like a bad case of #@^^&!! and I would take it back for a refund!

Sounds like crown rot. Like Carol said, take it back!
