I'm in.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Lizzy, I'll start it with a certain number of packs of seeds. (not sure how many yet:) When the package gets to you, you take out what you want, and replace it with that many packs and send it on to the next number.
I'll make a list hoping for the shortest travel each time, and I'll send it to number 1 and then she/he sends it to #2. and then in the end it gets back to me. Let's move our seeds from last year, clear out those boxes for this years seeds. I'm sure there will be tons of trading going on in the fall with new seeds, so lets make room:)

tiG, You might be interested in my experience of RR between Canada & USA. I started an Edible Round Robin March 1/2001. There were 2 boxes with 10 participants, that left me in Western Canada (Ladysmith, BC) one went to WA (took exactly 1 month to clear customs - I am withing spitting distance of WA ??!) the other went to 2 people in Ontario then on to MI (also within spitting distance !!).

I am still waiting (June 30) for either of the 2 boxes to return to me. FOUR MONTHS LATER. I am the 10th person in both boxes. Seems Agriculture Canada & USA open the boxes - making sure we are not trading drugs, I guess, but hang on to the seeds for ever. The RR had to cross the border twice, from me and back to me.

Just thought you might like to know. I would love to also join if you feel it is worth the long wait.

I did enjoy trading with my American friends, but just though should warn you about long delays. Perhaps there are enough of us Canadian to do a RR without crossing borders?

Hillsboro, KY(Zone 6a)

I fit's not too late I would like to join in. My address is Arlinda Robertson Rt.2 Box 147M Hillsboro, KY 41049

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Hey count me in too. How did I miss this post.... Hey Arlinda we're neighbors..... how cool is that. I live in Ewing.

HI Everyone,
I would like to join in too.
I am another Canadian.

It doesn't always take forever for the envelope or box to cross the border though. What Canada does is sends a note to the person receiving the box asking for permission to open and check the contents. They then send the mail on to you after they have verified that there are no illegal contents. I have been part of this process quite a few times and the envelope or box always arrives to my place in perfect condition. If may take a few extra days but I would rather that happen then what would happen if they didn't check everything.

I am looking forward to trading........

I'd love to join in, but I have no "homegrown" seeds to trade as I'm just a newbie gardener. Would store bought seed packages be okay or is that a no-no?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, I don't really know what to do about customs. My thoughts were to go through the states, then to Canada, across the sea and back to me. That should get back to me in time for any fall planting. I got a package from Mary in Ireland in less than 2 weeks. If that is okay with you guys outside the US, then that's the plan. If you don't want to, maybe we could just do a surprise trade with you one on one. Please let me know your thoughts. As for the shipping to Canada and England, I am planning on paying for the postage involved. We're talking about a large envelope, so it really shouldn't be that much.

Kearney, NE(Zone 5a)

tiG--your plan sounds fine to me.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I've sent emails for addresses that i don't have. I've got my seed packets all made out, still filling them. I hope to have this out in tomorrow's mail, but waiting on addys, it might be Tuesday. I'm really pumped. If you don't have a pattern for seed packets and you want one, just let me know. Please make sure that you tape them really good, so there are no loose seeds floating around. Please don't use plastic baggies unless you're positive that your seeds are fully dried.
I'll get emails to you all in the morning for a status update.
thanks
