Here are a couple photos of my precious Ugandense that you gave me at RU. They have grown a lot and started blooming a couple weeks ago. I have found that they are very, very tender, but the delicate blossoms are beautiful and I'm enjoying them so much. Thanks again, Liz. They are my pride and joy!
(Sorry about the quality, but it's the best this ole Centrios will do :'-)
Look Liz!
Looks awesome, Donna!!! I got one to at the plant swap. It's just slowly starting to put out leaves. I hope I can get it to bloom.
:) Donna
Donna, I put in very little effort other than keeping them fed and watered and they sit in a West Window. In the two months since the RU though they have more than doubled in size. I am very pleased. I wish you all the lluck in the world with yours. They are treasures. :Donna
Looking good Donna! You obviously have the ugandense touch. Aren't the blooms lovely? I never get tired of looking at them and I have so many people coming through here asking what they are. They're all smitten with it. By next year you'll have shrub size.
Sorry I haven't been around much, I've been spending half of my days with my new best friend. The post office. lol
Nice to hear from you Liz, and I'm glad to see you approve of my care of your Ugandense. Also good to know that they will get that big. Shrub size, she said. Woo Hoo! And you're right, the blooms are incredible. I still can't thank you enough.
I can appreciate how busy you are with May being your Brug Mailing month. I hope you are well and are back to normal, or hopefully better than normal, after your surgery this past winter. Take care and don't work too hard. :Donna
Once they are a good size they are relatively hardy. Maybe not to 6b but they can take a bit of cold. Maybe brief periods of ground frost. Not to say leave them out during frost but they can take the first night of unexpected frost. Best to take cuttings during the summer as a backup.
I'm glad you like it. It's one of my very favourites.
We'll see how it goes next year. But I think little Blue Butterfly Baby Ugandense will reside on the deck on nice days and inside on the others and nice and warm and cozy inside from September to June. It would break my heart to lose them even with cuttings. Crazy, I know, but like I said earlier, they are my pride and joy. :)
Wow! Those are truly gorgeous, Donna. Enjoy. Dawn
Thanks Dawn. After these photos were taken, the one plant really put on a display with about 8 blooms all at once. It was lovely. They both continue to give me blossoms, and I continue to enjoy them. :)
