Rooted leaves starting a vine
Way to go Awanda!
Look at that! 6 months, huh? Well, I started the H. kerrii leaves in February. One in water and one in soil (my science experiment to try to produce a vine from a leaf). Since my growing conditions aren't as "optimum" as I know yours are I will see if something happens by Christmas. Kerrii may be slower growing too, think? At least there's hope!

Actually Karen, I have this one inside in a Biglots mini greenhouse. Kerrii leaves are really slow to root. Keep us informed about your experiment:-).

Way to GROW!!!!!

Cool! Awanda, did you use rooting hormone or just stick them in the dirt clean? And how often / how much did you water them while waiting for them to root? Any and all tips would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Julie I just put them in the potting mix I normally use. I put it on a heat mat for about 2 months, it rooted by then. I then put it in a Biglots mini greenhouse inside the house. I watered it whenever I thought about it:-), I really didn't think it was going to do anything. Well the rest is history:-).

Very good growing Awanda. It looks like a happy little guy.
I read with interest Kachinagirl's post above. I also have two H. Kerrii varegeta leaves that I got from Walmart with roots already started. The dirt in the lovely pot was covered with glued together clear plastic "pebbles" which I chisled off and trasplanted them into a more suitable, smaller pot with better soil. They were in very bad condition so I got them to knock the price down, hoping I could save the leaves. They appear okay for now, but at least I got a really nice pot if they don't survive.
I don't know if I mentioned this in the other thread about H. kerrii leaves being sold....but about a year ago I got a letter from a Thai grower, selling H. kerrii - minimum order was 400. And, they propagate with leaves...
