Hawaiian Sunset

My 2nd Hibiscus to bloom from the co-op.
My camera doesn't fully capture the beautiful orange color of this one.

Oh, that's pretty Terry. Love that color again the green foliage!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

very pretty
I gotta check to see if I have that!

I was so excited when I went out this morning to see this beauty. Your camera is better than mine Terry......I think your pic shows the true color much better than mine.

Brinda, do you have photo shop? Russ just got me started using it and it's a pretty neat program. I'm slowly adjusting to learning more features.

I have found when I use the auto-adjust feature on it it really brings out the true look of what you took a pic of.

Russ taught me how to do this in less than 15 minutes. See if you see a difference.

This is the original.

Karrie, who makes photo shop? Have you made prints from photos that have been touched up? I have found that the digital photos I touch up on the machine at the drugstore sometimes obviously look retouched. I would like to find a program that can make minor changes to the image without showing.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Adobe makes photo shop. It is a spendy program however. The only reason why we have it is because Russ sometimes needs it for his work. Yes - you can make very good touch-ups with this program without it being obvious. I think you can get started for the low low price of $600.00 (have I frightened you yet?) We have an Epson Stylus Photo R200 printer upstairs that prints out wonderfully. But when I print, I go into the properties and set it up for photo enhance and change the paper to premium glossy photo so that the printer slows down and prints out nicely. Little tricks like that can really make a difference in the final product.

Oh. Thanks for the info! (And sorry for the hijack)

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I've had my threads hijacked before but liked it because it kept it up on the top and it didn't get buried. I especially liked that when I was asking questions on the brug forum - you can lose a thread quickly in there.

LOL.....I didn't know if I had PhotoShop or not, so I did a quick search on the puter. Nope....don't have it, and now I know why! LOL $600.00 Geez....no wonder I don't have it. I spend all my money on plants!!! LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

My problem is if I got it, it would take me forever to learn how to use it. I need someone to show me, I hate manuals! Brinda, if you get the program you won't need to buy any more plants, just make them up on Photo shop, and you get to have them in all and any colors. LOL

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

lol!

Kell - we've had this program loaded on the computer for over a year and I am finally getting comfortable with it. I too don't like manuals - and it's a thick one. When Russ sat down with me the other day and showed me a couple of easy steps and I did them a few times myself I got the hang of it. It edits photos so much better than the Camedia software that we have left from our old camera. I was so used to that one that I think I was afraid to learn something new.

Hey! I went shopping today at Lowes and I didn't buy a single plant! THAT is a first! ;-) I bought Russ a broadcast spreader (lucky man) & some ironite & some fertilizer I thought I'd try on my brugs. It is for orchids but the ratio is 19-8-16. The rest of the ingredients looked pretty good too - magnesium, iron, etc....... Will give it a whirl.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Ha, I'm with you two! I hate manuals too! I'll let something sit for months before getting it out of the box if I have to read directions. LOL But DH.....oh that is a different story. He won't stop until he figures it out.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

So much for being a good girl and not buying any plants. It's a rainy day today so I went nursery shopping. I bought a Bougainvillea (Barbara Karst), 2 Black Knight Cannas & a Rubber Plant (at least that is what it looks like - it didn't have a tag).

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Karrie, your rainy day is here today, so I'm thinking I might have to go shopping today too. I hope I can behave. How do you grow Bouganvillea in WA state? Do they get big for you? Do you toss them or hold them over during the cold months?

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Shirley, this is my first go at it. I doubt it will get real real big since it is going to stay in a pot. I'm just going to put it in the garage or in the basement during the winter and see if it comes back next spring - just treat it like my other trops.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Karrie. I hope it holds over well for you. I'd love to grow one if I had more room in the house for winter hold overs, but if I don't stop soon, Jim and I will have to move out.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

LOL Shirley!!!! I know the feeling. Allan keeps looking around at all the plants I know he is thinking the same thing!!! "Wonder where that will go come winter time?"

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

We are definitely going to have to move - I am running out of space.
