Some plumeria people in discriminating circles dismiss Celadine because she is plain, but I love her.
Celadine is Lovely
Your picture is lovely, Clare! I have a couple of Celadine cuttings that are starting to root. And I will be thrilled the first time they bloom.
Just love your plumerias, I have a few years to go yet to see a bloom.
Hiya Nat! How are you? I've missed you! It's great to see you here. You could get blooms this summer and will definitely get blooms next year on your Celadines. You will be thrilled with the fragrance and the beauty of the flowers. My husband asked me, the other day, which I liked better: brugs or plumerias. I couldn't choose because I love them both!
Antoinette, positive thinking, my dear:-) You could have blooms this year, and for sure, you will have them next year. I've had flowers develop on just-rooted cuttings late in the summer, and I've also had blooms in November! Here's proof! This picture was taken on November 12, 2004.
Hi Clare! Everytime I look at your pictures, I get a bad case of zone envy.
Yep, I am ok with not getting blooms until next year, especially since they don't require a lot of care and can be stored dormant. In an effort to have a few blooms this year, I ordered a couple of rooted ones (a pink and a red) from a reputable vendor, but when they arrived in dripping wet soil - - I thought I better repot them into something a little drier. Well, they had really small roots and with the heavy wet soil, I broke off the roots off one. Ahhhhhh! I see now why everyone says to not move them until they are fully rooted.
I have a feeling that once I have my first blooms that I'll be back online ordering more!
Nat, I have a feeling that you are right! I know you are right. I had a lot less plumerias last year than I do this year! Good idea about ordering rooted ones for blooms this year. Don't worry about the roots breaking. I've broken off roots when transplanting and repotting. They do break easily, but they grow back quickly. Once the rooting process has begun, you are usually clear of worrying if they will root or rot. Big hugs to you.
That's good news to know the roots should grow back quickly. Big hugs back at ya! Nat
