A butterfly and our 'hummer'

Modi'in, Israel

This little butterfly (ID later....running out the door right now) was in love with my strawberry plants today. I wonder if she was leaving me any gifts or if she just liked the leaves LOL.

This little girl Sunbird was very happy to have the birdbath today. She didn't use it for hygiene though...only as a drinks bar.

Great shots! I love the butterfly's eyes and the beak on the Sunbird. :)

Julie, your butterfly is the Small White Pieris rapa also known as Cabbage White. It won't do any harm to your strawberry plants, but it is the scourge of anything in the Cabbage family and therefore a real pest in a vegetable garden. They were introduced (accidentally) into Australia and we have them in large numbers.

LOL Bethany.

Thank you everyone!! :-)

Interesting information about the butterfly Ken. Good thing I don't grow cabbage as these guys are the most frequent butterfly visitors to my garden. They lay their eggs on my Nasturtiums and then the little caterpillars eat them to the nubs. But that's okay.....that's why I the Nasturtiums are there :-)
