I just joined the site, and quickly became a member to take full advantage of the opportunities here! I'm just so excited to find so many helpful people here. I've recently become the owner of my rather large (for RI) yard, that I grew up in. My parents were only interested in veggies, not visual interest at all. Years of clearing the property have left a rather bland vista. The opportunities abound here on my little plot, one of each growing area (except beach) for zone 5! I've been averaging 3 new beds a year, or more, adding at least 10 new varieties at a time. My plant lists of haves/wants, and photos will soon follow. Can't wait to see what grows!

Welcome from Iowa. Hope you are enjoying everything Daves Garden has to offer.
I'm having a great time! I'm busy in the beds, so not much in the threads yet. But, I'm already enjoying the fabulous trading! My surplus Stargazers are getting me lots of variety for my yard!!
Hi LuLu - welcome!
Hello from way over in Oregon. It sounds like you are having plenty of fun in your garden and you will have lots of fun on the forums too.
DG has brought my gardening fun to rainy days. Its finally been sunny and clear here after WEEKS of cold, grey, and rain. My planting backlog is astounding. My overgrown lawn even more so. This year I learned that tractor tune ups (even at the place your family has been using for 26 years) in the spring can be risky business. After 8 weeks it is finally arriving. So, today, I get to mow my huge yard for the first time. Then I get to use a rake to aquire more mulch than I have ever had before. Then I get to play with 5 yards of loam being delivered. Thank goodness I'm relatively strong and healthy........
Have I mentioned that Dave's rocks??
LuLu, it's cold (38 degrees) and windy here today but the sun is shining. My backlog of projects is endless it seems, and I too have an overgrown lawn to mow. I use the clippings as mulch or compost them. I also collect bags of leaves in the fall and make good compost from that or use it to mulch things. What treasures I find in those plastic bags they thought nobody would see! Mostly it's kids toys, candy wrappers and the like but you never know! What happened with the tractor tune up? It sounds like there's a story here.
Welcome from Michigan
welcome to DG, lulu. this is a great site to learn and hang-out.
