She bloomed out surprisingly dark for her spring debut a couple of weeks ago. I really like her ruffled skirts, and can't wait for the summer heat to give her full color!! How nice to have SOME reason to look forward to the horrid summer heat we have here!!
Bonnie Jean this spring
She's beautiful...maybe this year there will be more dark pinks available...I was told there would be last year, but I didn't see them! This makes the future look really good! I know what you mean about the heat...I just dread it!
very beautiful shade..
That is to die for gorgeous!!
Very pretty blooms, Lagata.
Really lovely. I get tired just thinking of the holes I have to dig for all the brugs I want.
g'night.
Love her!! I'm usually not big on pinks, but i like this shade and form!
Lataga, that's a beauty. Has it been released?
Very Pretty!
What a lovely shade of pink!
Pinks are my favorite. I don't care much for the yellows and gold ones. This one is a real beauty, as are a lot of your babies.
Pinks are my favorites also. For so many years, all I had was yellows, orange and whites. If I grew two pink mom & pops, had white seedlings when they bloomed. Sigh........
Thank you ! :)
I gave cuttings to several people at the Florala swap, but it isn't officially Released yet. I want to be sure of her summer color before I boldly state that 'this is what she will look like' to the general public.
I registered her early, (in time for my late sisters birthday; a gift to her children) but she had already bloomed beautifully in several flushes. Last summer/fall she had terrific dark coloring which might even improve, from the looks of her this early..
She should flower again before long, and it's starting into the 90's here, so that will tell me a lot!
Yes picturlady, I dread the heat too! All too soon it will be horribly hot and humid day and night, and even working outside by spotlights is miserable! But look at all that snow and ice we miss!! ;)
We'll be looking forward to reports from the trial growers. She's really a beauty. Is it always that 'ruffly'?
yes on the ruffles, and she holds a nice shape in the afternoon as well; another of my breeding goals.
Just found a pic of her, next to a bloom of 'Butterfly', taken late summer/early fall in the afternoon. Poor Butterfly doesn't like the daylight, but Bonnie still looked crisp. Sounds like a deoderant commercial !?!.
Now if I can just convince her to throw a variegated sport..... ;)
Sounds like all the traits I'm looking for. Now if you tell me slugs and cats don't like her, I'll be knocking on your door. If you need another 'trial grower' I would be happy to serve.
Beautiful. A keeper for sure.
What is not to love? So pink!! Though now the song Billie Jean is going over and over again in my head. LOL
The difference in heat tolerance is amazing when compared to Butterfly. It would be nice to have a garden where so many of the brugs did not wilt during the hot days.
The spring color is very dark and pretty. I am also anxious to see her later in the summer even though it has already gotten hotter than I like already. I also know what the heat and humidity and is like at dawn and dusk and your are right about it being almost unbearable even then.
There were several nice dark pinks last year. Three or four I can think of - most of them were new last spring/summer, so wouldn't have been released and in circulation until later this year at earliest. Kell's also go some nice pinks that seem to be darker. I would bet we'll start seeing them more later this year once they all prove their mettle.
This is a really nice one, lagata. I like her skirt as well as her corolla. Heat tolerant blooms are an important aspect for those of us in the south - especially down here in the deeeeeep south! Very few brugs still look nice after 2 days or so in the heat of our summer down here.
Thanks Carter...I will keep my eyes open for some this year ! I guess with trailling and testing they would take a few years to be released. I just get so impatient sometimes!!
Shes beautiful Kristi!
Lagata, she's stunning!!!!
Julie
She's a favorite of mine!!
Bonnie
Lagata, she is beautiful. Would love a cutting if you ever find yourself in a position to put them out.
Where is the litle goat? In the handbasket? He is a favorite of mine.
Jeanette
steel-datura just sent me a Rosamond and an Ecuador Pink. I hope one of these will bloom well in my cooler climate. I keep trying to find the best ones for cool nights and part shade. Wish I had a Big Yella again and the yellow Whiskers, but the cuttings of those did not make it through the winter.
